$10m per year is a great value for a pitcher who finished 2nd in Cy Young voting last year. If he hit the open market right now, he would probably command $20m per year.

You don't need to put claims on them once they've cleared waivers.

Just for clarification purposes... Claims are made while the player is on waivers... If someone makes a claims on you player, you have three options. 1) Give the player to the claimant and they assume the players contract. 2) Work out a deal (trade) with the claimant. 3) Take the player off waivers. Keep his contract and he cannot be traded for the rest of the year.

Since these players have cleared waivers (no one claimed them), you can simply call the Rangers and work out a trade.

This is the time of year when half the league is placed on the waivers wire...
