Saw him in one or two games last year. Twice the player McGroin is.

jjoshi and I were talking about it... Don't count out Paul Jones.

Hopefully, he winds up in Madison. As bad as McGloin is, he is still better than Joey Brennan.

I really can't imagine McGloin being better than anyone.

This guy has it between PSU, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Uconn and Vanderbilt. I would think Wisconsin would be attractive because of what happened with Wilson there last year. I think he was originally recruited to Maryland by Vandy's Coach (Franklin).

If he came to us, I think at this point it would definitely be between him and McGloin, and he would have an excellent shot at starting. Coach O'Brien is putting in a new offense, so McGloin wouldn't have that much of an advantage on that account.

the thought of mcgloin being our QB for another season literally makes me want to cry and throw up at the same time

not sure we'll ever know how successful Jones could have been, but it definitely sucks that he couldn't academically get his shit straight.

We've seen enough of McGloin and Bolden to know that neither can play. IMO Danny O'Brien would be a huge get for us. As for Paul Jones, here's to hoping he can stay eligible and show the promise he came in with.

As of NOW, he's eligible. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Anybody know why? He was a PSU practice just before his decision, and I've heard two rumors.
1. He saw the offensive line
2. He saw the QBs, specifically Jones and wasn't confident about starting

Both seem pretty reasonable. The O-line, 1 returning starter is always going to look bad in spring. And I don't think O'Brien has the physical tools of PJ or Rob Bolden for that matter.

Hi new person!!!!

Option 2 could be a possibility (which I would prefer out of the 2 :D), since Wisconsin's QB situation is more of a shitstorm than ours. I just read on blackshoediaries that O'Brien wants to narrow the competition to 2 QBs before summer, so hopefully one of those 2 is Jones..

I read the same thing. From what I've gathered, I'd guess Bolden will be the odd man out but that is just a guess.

He was definitely going up against a crowded field @ PSU, and what was worse, he (or anyone else) doesn't know whether Jones is going to show it or not. Serious potential upside there, though - kind of the central mystery of the O moving on.

I like what I"m hearing about O'Brien running the practices at a fast pace, too - means more plays get practiced - schools like Auburn, Clemson, Oregon have had a lot of success with that philosophy (though I think their formations are going to be more spread-oriented than the ones we'll be running).
