I get the feeling that maybe the FO wants him to take himself off the roster permanently or show he belongs. He'll probably be the guy until Smith is activated. Then, he either becomes the guy dfa'd when Bumgarner is ready or is just left at Sacramento on an option.

I'm okay with giving Pence the rest of the month to turn it around (much like I wish the team would do with rookies and career minor leaguers). But the way Williamson is hitting and the way this team is not hitting, he needs to come up soon and hope he is contagious and not the other way around.

It's just odd to see how Mac gets up here without cutting Pence. Blanco and Hernandez are both hitting well and make it hard to justify cutting them.

It's also hard to see the Giants cut Pence.

This is the obvious answer. You don’t want to cut ties with Pence this early in the season. I also would just hate to see his tenur with the team end that way. He still hustles his ass off every second he is on the field, and I just love seeing that. THAT can be contagious as well, and cutting THAT guy could hurt the clubhouse as well.

No doubt. He looked solid. But Sammy is tossing a rehab game on Saturday, and you gotta figure there isn’t a chance he gets activated in time for late next week if that goes well. Also Cueto will be back next week.

I know, but the way he says it isn't very encouraging. He didn't even acknowledge how well he's doing, normally Bochy plays both sides well here. "He's hitting the ball well, ain't he? Sometimes these guys give you no choice, right now there are no plans but he might make plans on his own" or something like that. He just completely shot this down.

Pence is clearly not long for the starting lineup. But dude has earned the respect to continue to try to get out of it. And he is clearly trying his hardest to get out of the funk. Let’s give him AT LEAST 2 more weeks.

And you know Mac is getting all the encouragement in the world when talked to face-to-face.

I'm not saying Pence needs to go now (if these guys were robots, absolutely), but Bochy is typically diplomatic in these situations, it's shocking, and noteworthy, when he's not IMO.

We don't know anything that Boch says to Mac.
