Yeah, honestly 5-9 to me is pretty interchangeable based on your preference. For me, I factored in that Gobert is going to be low on the totem pole for the Jazz this year. You have Hayward, Favors, Johnson, and Hill now in that lineup, and one would expect not a lot of offense will run through Gobert. He'll likely be the guy for put backs and occasional dive cuts to the hoop. Other than that I don't see much of an impact from him offensively. Defensively he's a beast though, and probably the best overall defensive center in the NBA.

Edit: Forgot to mention he'll also be behind Hood, Burks and Diaw for touches too.

If we are looking at Center value purely on offense then yes Gobert is lower. On value to the team though? Jazz defense fell off a cliff when he went out. He won't score the most points, but no one is going to add more value on that team than him. Maybe Hayward.

Favors is really underrated right now I feel like. People haven't noticed his game because the Jazz haven't been very good. Offensively he's also been a bit over-shadowed by Hayward. He's also very good defensively but gets overs-shadowed by Gobert. The guy has 20-10 potential and this could be the year he finally gets it with a true PG in Hill.

Favors adding a midrange game made him far more dangerous than he gets credit for.

why cant the Jazz do anything though?

Gobert and Favors on paper looks awesome. Gordon Heyward is oneo f the better SF's out there....they have talent in the back court....the west is loaded which i am sure has something to do with it- but the Jazz choked away a playoff spot to the rockets last year...

at some point Gobert/Favors/Heyward are going to have to win some games to deserve the accolades and perception of them as all very good players.

That being said---- there are a LOT of teams in the NBA that would trade their core for a core of Gobert/Favors/Heward and not think twice about it

Well the major knock on them has always been their backcourt play. Last year Hood stepped up in a big way when Burks went down and it looks like he's their missing piece at SG. Add that he's 6'8" and that gives them tremendous size on the perimeter. Now they've finally solidified their PG position with the acquisition of George Hill.

The Jazz have gone through their share of big men, first Kanter, now to Gobert and Favors. It doesn't do the big guys any good if they don't have any reliable guards to be able to get them the ball in space. Just imagine what the Grizzlies would look like if they didn't have Conley. It would be so, so bad.

I like your list!

Personally, I would have Jordan 4, and I think the gap between 1 and 4 is pretty narrow. Cousins may be the best player, but I would take Drummond and Jordan over him any day of the week on a team that was built to win.
I agree about DJ- he would be 4 on my list, Whiteside 5 and then Howard. The only reason I have Howard in the top 10 is because of his potential when considering the other guys 7-10.

Are you implying me again???
Bogut is a helluva defenders, screener, team guy and he just knows how to play....guys like that are criminally underated.....top 10 might be pushing it, but when you talk about ACTUAL impact on the game it would terriblyof fend me to see Bogut on a top 10 center list a year or two ago.

People fall in love with flash and scoring and such but dont realize there is an awful lot more to the game than video game stats. ID absolutely take Bogut over a stats-rich-winning-poor big like Whiteside.

No, me and LAD had a big Bogut debate a while back. I was insistent he was an Elite defender, and LAD said I was overrating him. Kept circling the wagons over interpretations of what Elite meant. In the end we agreed to disagree, but kinda wondering if she's throwing shade again my way.

I thought you did say he was a top 10. Even if you were only talking about defense I just don't think he's quite that good.
Don't get me wrong- he played great in his role with the Warriors but I think Whiteside is a better defender and a better rebounder.

Nope I kept saying he was a "Great Defensive Player" and you kept thinking I was calling him a "Great Center" in general. That's where we kept going in circles. We just eventually agreed to disagree that you thought Bogut wasn't a good defender and I thought he was.

Wow. Did you really just post this? Who would possibly fall in love with flash and scoring?

LOL.

It is hilarious that you can make a semi insightful comment regarding other players around the league, and then be completely blind when it comes to the Cavaliers.

I'd give an honorable mention to Gortat as well. He's older but he's a steady presence for the Wizards. If they're ever going to take the next step, he will be a crucial part of it this season.

I have been saying this for years.

He can be insightful when you get passed his homerism and haterism.

Sadly, that version of him only comes out to play once every 100 posts...lol

at this point you have zero credibility judging kyrie irving. You are the numbskull who thought it would be better if the Cavs traded Irving- --- and would have a better shot at winning if Delladvoa played over him.

Obviously you have ZERO rationale ability to judge the kid.

You act like "offense" is such a small part of the game- lol.....think about just HOW good this kid is. Kyrie absolutely gets to the rim and gets open shots for his teammates at an ultra-elite level. He is without a doubt one ofthe most versatile players in the league- and one of the only guys who has can finish at an elite level at the rim, mid-range, or behind the 3 pt line. His defense is continually improving- punctuated by his performance in the Finals.

When all these lists come out over the next month...SI, ESPN, CBS, etc. etc. etc.- none will list Kyrie outside of a top 20 player in the NBA. MY guess is he will be somewhere between 8th and 16th in the vast majority.

I mean- you can say whatever you want- to not acknowledge the guy is a without-a-doubt-sure-fire top 20 player just continues to decimate any scintilla of credibility you may have.

you KNOW Irving OWNS John Wall too... :)

Curry, CP3, RW, Kyrie....in STONE.

Find where I said Cleveland was better without Kyrie. I never said that. Not once.

You and a couple others make it seem like Kyrie makes Cleveland 15-20 points better. That is not the case. He makes them 3-4 points better.

He helps them and his role is valuable, but no more than a Bruce Bowen type defensive specialist.

Just because he is labeled by others as a top 15 player does not make it true. Scorers who do little else always get overrated in those because scoring is glamorous. That does not make it more important than other areas of the game. Every team needs scorers, but if you had nothing but ball dominant scorers who played no defense your team would be miserable.
