I have posted this many times and I have a couple of very good sources telling me some interesting stuff. They told me about the Nebraska and Colorado move in late 2008 and the impending aTm move immediately after the Nebraska move was made final.

Here is how the conferences will look (roughly) in 2017:

BIG TEN
current members plus:
Notre Dame
Rutgers
Missouri
Kansas

SEC
current members minus Vanderbilt plus:
aTm
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St.
NC State
Clemson

ACC
current members minus NCState and Clemson plus:
Pittsburgh
West Virginia
Syracuse
UConn
USF
UCF

PAC 10
current members plus:
Texas
Texas Tech
TCU
BYU

some wiggle room is there as the ACC may hold onto NCState and Clemson by being proactive and expanding first. If that is the case, the SEC may head west and look at Kansas, Missouri, KState etc causing a battle with the Big Ten. If Texas goes to the Big Ten that could shift things a bit as well, but this is the direction that things are headed. The bubble teams are:

K State
Baylor
Vanderbilt
USF
UCF
Cincy
Louisville

There are really only two open spots for that group of teams

Another, slightly less likely scenario could see Texas going to the Big Ten with Ok and Ok St.

If that happened, the SEC would make a full court press into the ACC and go after two teams from there (as well as Missouri). The Pac Ten would go after Kansas in this case as well.

I don't see Texas as anything except an independent. How that would work with super conferences I don't know but I also don't see how any conference would allow them to have their own network outside the Big T. Now maybe after it fails that will be different but not as it stands now.

Also I don't see any conferences dropping current teams. It would be horrible PR.

Nice list.

FWIW - Last summer when Expansiongeddon hit college football, the Big East had a handshake deal with Kansas/Kansas St/Missouri/Iowa St to join in the event the Big 12 was no more. I wonder if this is still open???

With 7 16 team conferences there would be 8 left over. Independents or just shit out of luck would be my guess. Sorry Ia. State but that's life.

I suppose Indies wouldn't have a place in the system.

Bring up 8 from the FCS to make 8 conferences?
