Concern with the run defense?

This is bugging me a little. It's like they don't give a damn what happens outside of the 20's but once in the red zone they lock in harder on the run.

And the no blitzing, I mean are they trying not to get blitz packages on film?

They have been doing a great job stopping the run and rushing without it. With Mathis out today and facing a better quality of line they should have adjusted earlier. They were bringing Baker more in that second half, particularly in the 4th quarter, but it did take them way too long to adjust. They gave up 213 total yards on the ground and that's the only thing they really needed to stop to win this game.

Remember, we have been saying all year if they have a weakness it's against the run. Arizona and now Utah were running it down their throats. What they do better than most of the rest of the Pac D's though is at least not letting those runs go to the house as explosive plays.

I was more bothered by how much time Troy had in that pocket today. If you let Darnold have that much time the outcome is going to be bad.

They've given up some yards, but they keep it it check well enough when it matters, for now anyway... they have tightened up as they game went on in both games it was a concern, too.

Well now that the word is out that Mathis is gone for the rest of the season, yeah there's more concern about that front 7 in general.
