Flames now in 2nd place in the Pacific thanks to Vegas beating San Jose in regulation tonight.

Good news: Flames came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Isles 3-2

Bad news: Mike Smith has a gr-gr-groin injury and it doesn't look good.

Would have preferred a 4 year term, but then it probably jacks up the AAV. At any rate, I like Backlund and glad he's going to remain in Calgary.

But hey Brian Ellio...I mean...Mike Smith worked out alright too.

I didn't mind the Elliott move at the time, BT picked up an expiring contract and it didn't work out and both parties moved on. Mike Smith has been great this season, I just hope he can return to the lineup soon.

Quick Flames fix: Fire Gully, hire Sutter.

It's been talked about on another board I frequent for the last few weeks - Barring a deep playoff run (of course you have to make the playoffs first), Glen will be gonzo at the end of this season. Treliving shouldn't have gone bargain bin shopping for a head coach and he's got to wear this like Homer wore the stone of shame.

Why not now? The season's salvageable. The west is weak. The entire regime is probably sweating right now given they've all been around for a good period of time now and have achieved nothing.

Sometimes I really miss the old NHL where Lou would fire the coach of his team a week before the playoffs with the team 2nd in their conference just for the fuck of it.

I come from west, how dare you call the west weak?!? Are Flames game to you?
