Flames have reduced their roster to 27 players, Spencer Foo sent to the minors, but Mark Jankowski (remember him?) has survived and may make the opening night lineup.

Craig Button has him as his number 10 in the Calder race!! So he has that going for him, which is nice.

No sign of Thomas Chabot so sadly it looks like he'll be a bust. :hurt:

Tanner Glass and Joseph Cramarossa are still in Flames camp and haven't been released from their PTOs (but I certainly hope they will be). By all accounts, Jankowski has played much better than Curtis Lazar in the pre-season, so chances are he should be in the Flames opening night lineup.

Is this an error? There is a Canuck leading this?

I do recall Burke telling us when Jankowski was drafted that in 10 years time he would be seen as the best player of that draft.
We are halfway there. I'd argue he could catch the #1 overall, if that's worth anything

Burke said that when he was drafted? He wasnt employed by the flames in 2012. Iirc, many shredded Feaster/weisbrod for making that pick :noidea:

Jankowski looked big and imposed his will in the exhibition game v the canucks last week

/guess you gotta give the former orlando magic gm some credit. its too bad weisbrod couldnt pull his third guy (son ? )out of calgary

my bad - got my bloated pasty poorly dressed guys confused.
it was Feaster Flames go off the board with Mark Jankowski pick

and from the article:
Their top prospect, Sven Baertschi, could be ready for the NHL soon, and that might ease some of the Flames' more immediate offensive deficiencies.

:)

This could turn out to be a pretty good deal for both teams, as the draft pick the Flames got in the Sven trade selected Rasmus Andersson, who looks like he just might make the Flames opening night lineup. Definitely knocking on the door at any rate.
