In b4 @forty_three comes in and tells us Freddie is weak positionally. :D

He's no sieve, that's for sure.

He played strong and made the saves he needed to. Although he didn't have to work all that hard the whole game, as BBB noted.

So, news:
1) Ryan Murray was activated, sent to Cleveland (presumably as punishment for getting hurt), and is back with the team now. Should play tonight. Which is good because:
2) Dean Kukan, who has been solid, is out 4 weeks with an upper body injury.
3) Sonny Milano accompanied Murray to Cleveland and back. Which is good because:
4) Nick Foligno is out 1-2 week after jacking up his ankle.

I hope to God that they let Murray babysit Johnson until trade day.

I mean, I feel bad for Murray, but good lord we need points.

Palmieri went to the net and accidentally bumped Bob slightly. Dubinsky went in to punch Palmieri, lost his balance, fell and wound up kicking Bob in the face.

Good dog.

As long as this precedes a trade of Jack Johnson, and/or an execution of Scott Harrington, this is a great move.

His first duty as a Blue Jacket will be to be interrogated by Torts on what the Caps do in practice.

Maybe we can scrap Harrington for parts to repair Murray

The Columbus Blue Jackets have apparently realized that 50+ shots a game isn't a guaranteed way of winning, so they have decided to try only getting two in the first period against Philly tonight.

Brandon Dubinsky is a liability.

Looks like the idiot coach may have finally realized that. Down by one and with the goalie pulled, Dubinsky was stapled to the bench. Jenner took the draw.

Cole and the Test Tube are in tonight.

Test Tube pots a goal and Cole throws OV to the ice while Wilson is mixing it up with noted tough guy Sedlak. That's the way to get the fans to like you.

Also, Sonny Milano comes back from Cleveland and gets one too.

Correction: It was Scut Farkus who took OV down with a butt end. Got a fiver for it.OV Starts the period jawing at the Jackets bench and Torts.

And we have chased that sieve of a starter. Grubby in. 4-1 Jackets to start the second.

Hopefully that wasn't an anomaly, and the "new" guys were the spark we needed. They actually looked like a playoff team last night. Maybe not cup contenders, but at least they look more solid than they did, and they didn't have to sacrifice too much.

But again, hopefully that wasn't an anomaly.

Yeah, it certainly looked much more positive. And remember, we have Kukan, Nutivaara and Foligno to return yet and Vanek hasn't arrived either.

Murray baby sat Johnson well, and Cole looked great alongside Savard. I also liked how Letestu was out there often in the classic "Dubi role". Late faceoffs and PK.

Did you catch the in between 1 and 2 interview with Letestu? Rimer said later he got choked up talking about how happy he was to be back and how him and his wife bought a house here and he lives here in the offseason. I didn't know that. Didn't see the interview either. The look on his face when he scored was pure effing joy.

So, a fully healthy roster should/could look something like this:
Vanek - Dubois - Panarin
Atkinson - Wennberg - Bjorkstrand
Foligno - Letestu - Anderson
Calvert - Dubinsky - Milano

Hannakeinen, Sedlak waiting. Dang. And really substitute any winger anywhere in that lineup depending on situation.

Jones - Werenski
Murray - Nutivaara
Cole - Savard
Kukan - Chorney if needed.

Johnson and Harrington refilling water bottles between periods.

I will take it. With Philly, Wash and Pitt all bashing each others' heads in down the stretch it could be good. If we survive the WC matchup (please don't be TB, please don't be TB) we could compete against any Metro team with that lineup.

And the bald Finnish fuckwit made it happen without losing a single quality NHL asset. Jeebus.
