From Friedman's 30 thoughts

16. Another UFA to watch is Tampa Bay’s Brian Boyle. You can see why playoff teams would be interested. Edmonton’s Peter Chiarelli went to see him in Minnesota last Friday. Columbus and Toronto are believed to be among other potential suitors. (The Maple Leafs tried to sign him as a free agent in 2014, although it was a different regime.)

Blue Jackets | David Clarkson staring at a harsh reality

He seems a genuinely good guy and one who was in an unenviable position of getting way overpaid for his abilities like it was somehow his fault that someone handed him a wheelbarrow full of money after one good playoff run. Stay in town David. You'll like it here.

Note: I was at the rink the day they took those photos.

He actually took less money to sign in Toronto. Had he signed with the Oilers he'd be making another $.5-1 mil a year.

I'll say one thing about Torts hockey, the Lumbus were physical as hell on the Leafs last night and it took it worked well in rendering their best players ineffective.

Also, I have no idea why Babs didn't challenge the opening goal for interference.

Probably figured he'd need another challenge later.

Is Marner okay? He went down the tunnel at one point and I don't think he returned. I wasn't paying close attention.

They gave Seth Jones a video tribute? Guy played 200 games in Nashville lol. That's absurd.

I'm with Joey on this one. A high first round draft pick that was the face of the franchise should have at least gotten a "thank you". Especially a guy who came here and became so entrenched in the local culture, and was so upset to be asked to leave. To ignore him like he never existed is...

Sure, might be kind of ridiculous for Jones to get the nod like that after so few games, but it shows how that organizations feels about it's players, especially homegrown ones.

The Jackets acknowledged Steve Fucking Mason when he returned, and he hated everyone inside that building. Johansen was all about the team and city. And he got nothing.

Son's rookie high school season is in the books. His personal record was 13-1-2 with a 2.06 GAA and a .849 sv% and 2 shutouts. Take away the three goals he gave up in a bit more than two periods mopping up after the other goalie got pulled and he's probably around 1.80 GAA.

Team was 26 - 5 - 3. They entered 4 tournaments and won 3, finished second in the other. Top team in the conference, 6th place team in the state. State championship tourney did not go well. One of the teams they faced brought down 7 seniors from their varsity team and our boys got buzzsaw'ed. Other goalie gave up 7 in a bit more than a period and a half and my boy gave up two more. But made 15 saves.

Shoulda started the other kid, coach! :thumb:

Overall a very positive experience, and he's already looking forward to next year.

Here is an interesting stat: The Blue Jackets currently only have 2 minus players on the season. Matt Calvert who is a -3 and Sonny Milano who is -1. And Sonny has only played 2 games with the big club.

Here are some highlights from today's game against the Devs. Watch it. Watch Bjorkstrand's goal (the second one).

Young man is finding his groove.

Oh, and after the loss to Ottawa, the Jackets guy interviewed Josh Anderson.

Hartsy came out to listen.

This apparently came about because Foligno said Nutivaara had "the greatest interview bomb ever" after the Montreal game:

I hope this becomes a thing.
