And that's a 7 game home winning streak for the Jackets. New club record.

Which includes wins over the Rags, Caps, and Canadiens...not just taking advantage of scrubs.

Torts for the Jack Adams.

Can they give it to Brad Shaw instead? Special teams is his baby and it's working well.

Bottom line, as I said before, don't know if Torts is having a mid-life crisis or if the World Cup humiliated him and made him re-think what he does, but he seems to be letting the team develop its own identity and also seems to be letting the players be themselves. He seems like he realizes the D men he has and how silly it is to have them just clog lanes. They can move the puck, control all three zones and stretch opponents out.

Honestly, if they can go from lottery pick to playoffs, he is a contender for Adams despite my protests :).

I am more interested in Werenski and Bobrovski getting hardware. Performing great now, just gotta keep it going. Easy, right?

Jackets are second in the league by PDO so barring any sudden drop to the mean Torts is a shoe-in for a nomination at the very least.

That also means Jackets fans will be coming up with a clever name for their 2017-18 tank.

If they finish this year relatively strong, they will only get better in 17-18. Jack Johnson is the consensus expansion draft subtraction for us!

Maybe. Bobrovsky's shown in the past he's capable of maintaining good play so say he keeps this up and it goes on for a few more seasons. I wouldn't bet against him.

On the flip, besides the aforementioned PDO they are also unsustainably high on the PP, some guys have shooting percentages that are way above career norms (Foligno is shooting 8% more successfully than he did 2 years ago when he fooled the Jackets into giving him an insane contract, for example), and it's worth keeping in mind that Torts had the Canucks doing really well in the first 41 games of 2013-14 only to win 13 of the final 41 games and flame the fuck out.

Eventually, being a mediocre even-strength team comes back to bite. If anything, this would be a fantastic time to try and move guys like Hartnell and Foligno who are punching above their weight class and free some cap space but it'll never happen.

Wonder how long it sat out there before someone said "Hey, uhhhh... Jack Johnson is from there too".

I don't really have anything I need from my mom for Christmas so it looks like it'll be the 2 game deal...just have to decide on which tickets to get now.

Blue Jackets acquire Ryan Stanton from Avalanche

Roster update. Sad to see the kid go. Was a real nice compliment to Ryan Murray. A Mark Methot kind of guy with a bit more speed. Someone was going to be a casualty of the Zach Werenski depth chart shuffle and with the bald, Finnish fuckwit handing out untradeable contracts like they were coupons at a grocery store, I guess it's not that surprising that Cody moves on.

Just really sucks to see one punch Prout and Jack "turnover" Johnson in games when there are solid young D who can help for the next few years. And to lose an NHL ready D-man for a guy who will never make it out of the A...

Sucks. Good luck in the mountains, Cody. At least you will have a coach that knows what you can do.

Sam Gagner played 11 minutes last night. In the time he was on the ice he had 2 goals and 2 apples. He figured in every Jackets goal.

So that leaves him at 10 goals 7 assists on the season. This already eclipses his total from last season (8 and 8), and has his only 8 goals shy of his career high. He's played 23 games.

And, quite unusually for him, he is a +8. He's only finished + on a season twice.

He costs 650,000 on the cap. Bargain of the century right now.

But even more incredible... only one member of the Blue Jackets is currently a minus player. Boone Jenner at Minus 4.

Even Jack Johnson. JACK MOTHERFUCKING JOHNSON is a +10.

This has been quite enjoyable so far.

Oh no. This is bad.

A group of parents from my son's team are pooling their money to bid on this.

Sam Gagner update;

Sam Gagner named NHL's 3rd Star of the Week

Part of me really wants Jarmo to throw a contract at the guy. But that fucking expansion draft screws everything up. Sign him for 2 years and lose him for nothing (especially if the dollars are reasonable). Or leave him to have his contract expire and lose him for nothing in UFA. All I can hope for is he is happy and signs here after the draft.

Guy is killing it with around 12 minutes a night.

Okay Blue Jackets, time to take the Oilers to the woodshed tonight.
