According to the Chronicle list, Texas Tech will have the largest stipend in the Big 12 and $5,100. That’s fifth overall nationally behind Tennessee (the leader at $5,666), Auburn, Louisville and Mississippi State. TCU ($4,700), Oklahoma ($4,614) and Oklahoma State ($4,560) are also in the top 10, and Texas ($4,310) and Kansas State ($4,112) are also among 15 schools believed to be paying $4,000 or more.

Besides WVU, Iowa State and those six, the other Big 12 schools are Baylor ($3,882) and Kansas ($3,076).

What gets me is the $300 extra for travel for out of state athletes (90% of our football team) Well my mom just bought a ticket from Jacksonville to Morgantown for $354 which is more than the added stipend for travel. These figures should be adjusted individually depending on where an athlete lives. The player from eastern Ohio gets the same as the kid from Florida.

I can see no upside for WVU recruiting.

No upside, but it's not a massive detriment either. WVU ranks 38th nationally. So it's not like this is going to cripple recruiting either.
