Friday had Shelby Miller in his first start of the season. He was a bit shaky in the 1st and 2nd but settled down and pitched into the 6th. He got the win and the hitting by the Dbacks kept it up.

Dbacks are 4-1 to start the season which is quite a change from the past several years.

Miller lost the strike zone in the second. He fell behind 3-0 in the first to Lindor & threw a get-me-over FB right down the middle which was promptly jettison ten rows deep in right-center. Other than that, he pitched pretty well, Getting out of the jam in the second was impressive. Last season that would have a 6 run inning early in the game.

Personally, I thought he was getting squeezed early on. He adjusted by breaking out the curve for first pitch strikes & was great from that point on.

As long as the SP keeps the games close by not giving up big innings early on, I think this team can win a lot of ball games.

Dbacks are raking it again. Hazelbaker has been about as hot as you can get. All starters have now gotten a hit.

1-9 dbacks in the bottom of the 8th, only 1 out so far.

This is fun to watch.

Corbin very good outing for 6 innings. Chafin no outs 1 run. Rodney gives up 1 due to error on Lamb.. but closes out the game. First game the Dbacks started with a lead, to coming from behind this game.

Weird inning in the 7th. Think there were 2 errors on Owings and 4 headset reviews in the inning.

6-1 best start since 2000.

Next game tomorrow at SF for a 1:35pm game. Fun start to the season.

A great way to start the season. Momentum is a wonderful thing. Total opposite from last season.

I surely thought that Santana ball was leaving the park. Luckily, it stayed in the park.

Offense can mash with anyone in MLB when healthy. They won't be able to add a stop flight arm due to how awful the minor league system is, so they will have to go to war with what they have. Maybe if contention they can swing a deal for a vet starter for insurance, or maybe Braden Shipley finally figures it out in AAA

Starting pitching doesn't have be lights out, they just need to consistently keep the team in games, which they failed to do last year when almost every starter was given up 4-6 runs by 4th inning. If they can do that, it wouldnt surprise me if they continue to win games. Curious to see how they do on the road
