He's an amazing pitcher. 9 and 0 so far, that's great.

Yes for sure but I meant he's even the same kind of pitcher: tall, lanky lefties that strike out 100 guys a game.

Like most sequels he's not quite as good as the original, but close enough

There are similarities, and this year he might be on a team where he can take this great individual success in the regular season and turn it into games in the postseason. Birds better stay the hell away from Sale when he's pitching in ST.

Kershaw might be Maddux and Randy Johnson combined right now. 88 strikeouts to 4 walks.

Not to take anything away from Sale, he's phenomenal. I think he's certainly established himself as the best pitcher in the AL by now, and possibly the 2nd best pitcher in all of MLB. His strikeouts are actually down (especially from last year, where he struck out 11.8 per 9 IP; this year, it's a mere 8.2). I don't think he's at his best right now, as scary as it sounds.

Kershaw is Koufax. He still has electric stuff and one of the best benders in baseball. Maddux couldn't break a pane of glass, but he could shave off all four corners. Kershaw is not quite there yet with regards to his impeccable control.

I don't know about that. If the season ended today, Kershaw's 0.5 BB/9 would be a career best for Maddux (his best was 0.8). But Kershaw's also walking so few while striking out so many.
