According to Bleacher Report, Carp has filed his retirement paperwork, and could have a personal news Conference after Thanksgiving.

I loved watching Carp pitch. He never gave in and was a huge big game pitcher. That head first dive into first base to but the Philly runner in the play-offs was one sign of his dedication to winning.

Thanks for the memories.

Wasn't exactly his biggest fan, but he was a damn good pitcher. Overcame several pretty big injuries and had some pretty big years to help the Cards win two rings. He had some incredible postseason performances.

Darth Carp is the kind on player you tell your kids about. I am lucky enough to be at an age where he was a pitcher of my childhood yet I was fully old enough to understand and appreciate how truly great he was. His value extended far off the field and into the dugout and clubhouse. He will be missed on the field but I can't wait to hear what role he will move forward in with the Cardinals.

Lets keep his short pitching stint in perspective...when healthy, top notch, but he was seldom healthy and it was a coin flip at best if he would be healthy. What did he have? 10 years with the Cards but pitched maybe 5 years of it?

And that is on him that he was injured? Really?

Did I blame him? No, I pointed out that he gets a lot of "Cardinal Wall of Fame" talk for 5 years of service...perspective. He was great when healthy for 5 years, but lets not make him some Cardinal elite player
