Well, we owe Bass 6.9 and Lee 11.1 over two. So we take back Asik's 15 mill next season and give up a pick. I think Asik would definitely thrive with Rondo. Plus he would get along well with Faverani. Asik's contract is bloated though.

Asik, Sully, Green, Bradley, Rondo

Faver/O, Humphries, Wallace, Brooks, Crawford

Hmmmmmm.... Word.

I do not think it is $15m against the cap, I think it is just $8m against the cap.

It is amazing how sought after Bigs are, even marginally good ones.

I agree.

I'm hoping the Celtics can get Asik. I don't think were gonna be heading to the lottery this season or down the road. Danny is gonna rebuild this team through trades for proven players, free agency (down the road) and some draft choices. Adding Asik is one more piece we need. A 7 footer, great defender/rim protector, rebounder, and someone who can give you some offensive production.

I dont think even Danny expected this young coach to get control and motivate this team so quickly. he may have wanted to tank but he got in exchange for that:

1. One well united team culture
2. Defensive minded attitude
3. A coach who is composed and ready for the perils ahead

Not so bad a compromise. He can still go up in the draft if he gives away some of those 2017/8 picks

I loved the Stevens hire and Ainge was really smart to do it. It is a free roll, if they lost he would be in the lottery for better pieces and the coach would be an easy scape goat in 2 years or sooner if wanted. If the new coach did good things he was a cheap easy find and aside from a center he has the hardest piece to find from a GM stand point.

Bots, no question, he could not loose as public opinion was in his camp already due to Docs departure. But it seems now that many think the move was calculated in advance. This guy as we learn more was compared to wooden in his young days. Danny jumped in first...high risk, hi reward

Our team may have some character issues but you can't question their competitive spirit. I bet they have a nice mix of locker room personalities. If BS can get them to believe in each other, the sky's the limit. I bet Rondo has had a lot to do with their current culture. Word.

The rebuild is already over, Celtics are building a contender

Interesting read as I resurrect the thread. I still dont agree that they are officially "rebuilt", but with two all stars, several nice youngsters, some draft and stashes, a defensive culture, good vets like Crowder and Amir, a top coach and still all those picks, its very cool time to hear about all the trade possibilities that idiots tweet these days. I just hope who ever they add, they play defense.

July 2013 Danny pulled the plug and used Paul Pierce's support to kick off the rebuild. 3 and a half years later we are back on top where we want to be. Arguably the fastest rebuild when overhauling the entire roster. Big Red is smiling

Don't you need to at least get back to the finals before you can say they are back on top? No doubt the rebuild has gone well (much better than I thought it was, even as late as last year), but you aren't done.

I don't think Red would be lighting any cigars just yet.

They're def a good team. Thomas is a great player. Looks like they have a top draft pick in the draft this year via Brooklyn. Don't know how they do this year but I can see them winning another title within the next few yrs.

I remember 2-3 years ago when Lakers' Fans said the Lakers would never tank -- the just quickly rebuild.

No the measure is higher but even with yesterdays loss I am excited to see them playing real games and learning how to win. Like I said earlier, they are not the best team yet. They have to go through LBJ and thats at least a year away. They badly need a rebounder and a second offensive threat off the dribble

I dont think Lakers fans ever had experienced a bad management and ownership situation before. Thats the issue there. The Celtics went through that when the owner handed the reigns to the kids too, and it did not get solved until they sold it off to groups better able to manage the modern NBA.
