Joey still needs to hit better than .212 before we say Joey is having a "fine season".
I disagree very strongly. Taking into account his experience level coupled with how he has progressed I think it is very appropriate to call it a fine season. His poor BA takes a back seat to his OPS when judging his offensive success to me.

Not when it's that low.

Hey Chris Young will be available in the off-season. Hasn't pitched in over a year so he should come cheap and he's a recovering medical problem.

MLB's 2017 All-Disappointment Team

2017 disappointment team. Several rangers on it.

I think he's right. This team was built to compete. We should've been a wildcard team I think. We had several guys perform way below expectations, we also had some injuries at inopportune times. Shit happens, but the bigger picture was this team definitely underachieved relative to the talent level that was assembled.

Being good enough to be a wildcard team does absolutely nothing for me personally. We have been to the postseason enough that if we don't have a legitimate shot at the WS then no matter what our record is it is all the same to me. Wildcards and the ALDS don't get me excited. There have been times when those things did matter to me, but not presently.

I understand wanting him to hit for a better average, but when he is 5th in the league in slugging and 10th in the league in OPS then that is very much a fine season to me.

Get that average up 28 points and we're in business.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I thought the exact same thing when I saw he was going to be a FA. I could definitely see JD bringing him back

when i first posted it was sarcastic and then i saw a report that the Rangers will not pursue any of the quality starters available i.e. Darvish, Arretta, etc and i realized that this off-season will probably follow the same pattern as the last few and go after cheap medical rehabs like Young. To me it is not the way to build a team but it seems to be the Rangers way
