I am not a Brewers fan, but I wanted to seek expert opinions from those who are.

Carlos Gomez is on a ridiculous tear. He was one of the most productive hitters in the NL over the second half of last season and is hitting even better this year.

With Aramis Ramirez in the line-up, Gomez has been slotted 7th in the order. One can only surmise that he will be dropped to 8th once Corey Hart returns in a few weeks.

Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous? I understand that some managers are loyal to struggling veterans like Weeks, but the man has not been productive in a long time.

Similarly, Segura has been outstanding, but why do he and Aoki get the nod ahead of Gomez? Aside from Aoki, they all bat right handed, so that isn't really a factor.

If I was filling out the Brewers line-up card, this is how it would look:

1. Segura
2. Gomez
3. Braun
4. Aramis
5. Hart (when healthy)
6. Lucroy
7. Weeks
8. Aoki

Everyone below 5 would jump a spot until Hart gets back. If you prefer Aoki at the top, then he and Segura could be swapped. The only thing I know is that Gomez is being under-utilized.

Am I missing something here?

If everyone bats to their potential, you could draw the batting order out of a hat and pretty much guarantee they'd score boatloads of runs.

It's the pitching I'm worried about...

I always liked Carlos Gomez, was a little bummed when he was included in the Johan deal. Although Mets fans probably wouldn't have been patient enough to let him develop.

Carlos Gomez has been one of the bright spots in the Brewers dismal season to date. It's nice he didn't crap his pants after getting a lucrative contract extension but with the cloud of suspicion over Braun's involvement with PED's, you wonder if CarGo might be juicing as well :(
