From what I've read and heard about Vincent Taylor is - he's too top heavy, and he's going to have leverage problems. Scouts aren't real high on him.

I want this guy man. He's gonna be real good
At special teams and what else? Seems like an okay safety prospect who'll need a lot of time to become good.

Vincent Taylor*, NT, Oklahoma State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 310. Arm: 34.38.
40 Time: 5.07.
Projected Round (2017): 3-5.

3/11/17: Taylor is a sleeper prospect who could end up being a nice value pick in the mid-rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has disruptive speed at the point of attack with the strength to fight off blockers. Taylor played well as a junior and decided to skip his senior year. In 2016, Taylor had 51 tackles with 13 for a loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass broken up.

8/13/16: Taylor had 48 tackles with 8.5 for a loss, five sacks and a pass broken up in 2015. He has quality size and athleticism with good upside to develop.

There are some JAGs on other sites that study a ton of film that consider him a top 50 prospect.
perhaps I'm off thinking he would be there in the 3rd or 4th when we pick. Ideally you land this guy, a top DE at #17 and go big in FA at NT and you've started to solve a 4 year old issue.

7 year old issue. We have been in a 3-4 for seven seasons now. And the closest we have had to a true nose were Fat Albert, and Pot Roast. One was unmotivated, and the other one was just not in shape enough to be effective for more than 10 plays a game.

Still wondering why we insist on sticking to a scheme we dont have the talent for, and refuse to bring in the talent to run?? IN the words of Shark Jr. WTFAWD??

LOL, we could have drafted and developed our very own Brandon Williams, gotten another OLB to play across Kerrigan in the draft. And at least had one elite ILB by now too. Our scouts and whoever develops the talent should be terminated yesterday. OR...has you mentioned...switched to a 4-3

My point was while he doesn't rate as high as Brantley, his numbers production wise were better last year as was his physical attributes. Certainly worth a look in rounds 3-4. Maybe take Brantley at #17 along with Taylor and were good on DL for now. I have a sneaky feeling we may take a RB at #17.

oh we are on the same page, we could skip defensive line until the 3rd because this guy should be legit.

I don't think the real scouts agree with you guys on Taylor. College numbers can be deceiving. He's not considered stout against the run because he's top-heavy and has poor leverage. He sounds more like a 5th round value than a 3rd rounder.

Have you watched any film on Taylor?

No, and I never pretended that I did. Right?
I was just asking...he looks solid "stout" off the snap of the ball and has some quickness for a guy his size.

What about when he's making contact - does he stay low? How's his knee-bend? Do you think he's good against the run?

From what i watched, he looked solid against the run, quick feet for a guy his size, bends well and very active. I'm not so sure there is 2 rounds difference between him and Brantley but I'm no scout.

Enticing is the right word. Risky is another - Are ya feeling lucky? It would not surprise me if the Skins end up with McDowell.

Maybe. He can play anywhere on the line. He is certainly a boom or bust type of guy.

I see Brantley as a low risk guy. He won't be a stat stuffer but neither was Wilfork...but he was pretty damn awesome.

Should the Skins consider Solomon Thomas - even though he's a bit undersized? Is he good enough that you make adjustments in your defense to allow him to fit in your D? I'm no scout, but he seems like a potential difference-maker due to his combo of motor and athleticism. One scout said he has the potential to be the top D lineman in the draft.

I would loooove to take him at 17. But there's rumors he night be the 2nd pick. I think there's about a 1% chance he makes it to us. If that.

Serves me right for paying attention to Fox Sports mock - cribbed from USA Today - which has him going 17th.

Washington
Solomon Thomas - DL - Stanford

Washington needs help all across the defense, and Thomas can certainly provide that. He can play inside, he can play outside, he’s good against the run and can penetrate into the backfield against the pass.

Needs: Safety, linebacker, defensive line, running back
