If not for the fact that he is a Gator, I would likely be pounding the table for this kid at 17.

He has the size, skills and strength to be that big plug in the middle. And the frame to add more muscle if needed

Alas.. he is a fucking Gator.

The draft is pretty deep with defensive linemen within the first 4 rounds hopefully we grab one in the 3rd and another with one of our 4th's

OH no doubt I like McDowell as well. If by some chance we got McDowell in the first and Brantley was there in the 2nd, it would take a minute but I could probably be convinced to forget he was raised wrong.

Heard a couple of people talking up Brantley the other day. They like him a lot.

Again, these types of scenarios are not a stretch -- I'm just concerned the 'skins won't make these smart moves.
A brief derail -- Tabor, who is also a gator -- would you take him in the 2nd.
Smith-Schuster - 2nd?

Teez??? Again it would take a moment to convince me he could over come his poor choice in schools... but kid does have skillz. Same for Juju

Also it would suck a bit because my Cube mate at work is a Gator fan, and I would never hear the end of it if the Skins drafted two Gaytors.

Jordan Reed a Hyundai .... by the way I had one because I had such a long commute. 140K in three years not a lick of trouble. Back in my Wrangler now though.

I own a charger, a ram truck, a camaro as my project car, and all my bikes are Hondas.

And it took a minute for me to accept that Reed had overcome his Hyundai status. :D

Like Brantley but never really considered him based on some reports that he was not big enough to play nose. If he could, I wouldn't mind him at 17 or trade down at 21 or so.

Like Teez too. He was a top 10 pick in some mocks before the season started. Ran a 4.6 at the combine and ran a 4.7 at his pro day. Ouch! Could be a value pick in the 2nd or 3rd.

:nono:

The Gaytors can't claim Gray, he is a Hokie.

On a serious note, Brantley looks the part. Certainly worth a look.

McDowell is a very enticing prospect. Versatile..can play anywhere in the DL. Talking heads say he could be the best DT in the draft. Takes a lot of plays off though. If he had the motor of Kerrigan, Watt, etc. he would be a Top 5 pick. If he is there at 17, we have to consider him if all of our other major targets are gone.

Manusky is already on record saying McGee and McClain are our starting bookend DE's and they will look to the draft for a nose. Things change though.

After quickly studying a few of the top NT in this years draft, what are your thoughts on Taylor from OKST? His numbers are equal to those projected to go before him however, he is a bit quicker and has very long arms. Could he project as our starter in the middle since he may only be used 30-40% of the time or would he be considered a project? I like the tackles for loss and sack numbers.

OklahomaState_logo.gif
Vincent Taylor*, NT, Oklahoma State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 310. Arm: 34.38.
40 Time: 5.07.
Projected Round (2017): 3-5.

3/11/17: Taylor is a sleeper prospect who could end up being a nice value pick in the mid-rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has disruptive speed at the point of attack with the strength to fight off blockers. Taylor played well as a junior and decided to skip his senior year. In 2016, Taylor had 51 tackles with 13 for a loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass broken up.

8/13/16: Taylor had 48 tackles with 8.5 for a loss, five sacks and a pass broken up in 2015. He has quality size and athleticism with good upside to develop.

Enticing is the right word. Risky is another - Are ya feeling lucky? It would not surprise me if the Skins end up with McDowell.

They are paid to lie and mis-lead before the draft - and to say only good things about their own players.
