Here is an article indicating why Cal should hire Chip Kelly:

Chip Kelly is the obvious first choice for the Bears. Chip may take the job and it wouldn't be a bad fit. PAC North would be a blood bath if this happened. UW under Petersen, Stanford under Shaw, Oregon won't stay down for long, Wazzu with the pirate, and Cal with Chip. That's tough.

I've also heard Justin Wilcox is being considered.

Chip Kelly wouldn't be able to handle the academic and SA off-field behavior requirements of Cal. Oregon had no issues with the longest yard rosters he brought in, but liberal moonbat utopia Cal would. Nor would they allow him to buy players using school slush funds as Nike U. was ok with.

Chip can only succeed when he's got a AD dept that turns a blind eye to the thug U. stuff and wiping his butt with the NCAA rule book.

Justin Wilcox wouldn't be a terrible choice, but it would be incredibley challenging putting together a coaching crew given the timing for whoever they go with. It's not going to be an easy sale.

You are so full of shit.

Did you even read the NCAA infractions report when Chip got banned from NCAA coaching for two seasons. You obviously didn't as 99% of the rest of Ducks didn't as well. Nope. It was simply easier to ignore it all and claim it was a witch hunt because the NCAA and sports media was jealous of Nike U.'s greatness. :lalala:

That was the Willie Lyles scandal not academics.

Yeah, they've been one of the more successful programs for the last 20 years and their recruiting has been in the top half of the PAC for a long time now. They may not return to the success from 2010-2014 but they aren't going to fall off the map.

For a school full of "elite academics" Cal is run by complete morons with zero sense of economics. They are in the process of slashing their athletic budget, have no major donors, have the fan base of a mid tier Big Sky program, makes complete sense to fire your coach and try to stay relevant. If they didn't have a loud voice within the Pac 12 they'd love to drop sports all together.

There's something bigger going on in Cal. I don't have the answers but Dykes was actively looking for other jobs the last two seasons. I think there's something behind the scenes that caused this firing.

Cal isn't a school any coach wants to be at long term. Tedford only stayed their so long because no other school wanted him. The thing that has gone on, and will always go on is the academics vs athletics. Noone could blame Dykes for looking elsewhere, but didn't take another job so why play the middle school girl card and we are going to dump you before you dump us.

I think it's more than that. Dykes was looking for any job, not necessarily an upgrade. I think he wanted out of Cal and the feeling was mutual with the administration.

Fuck Cal, Fuck them in their hippy asses. Dykes was a guaranteed win for Stanford and SC, still can't believe fUCLA lost to them this year. Dykes first win against an in state team in his tenure.

Love the headline "School fires Head Coach. Search for new coach to begin immediately"

You mean they don't want to wait a couple months?
