This is who I think coach Thibs should start from day 1 of the season. Snell looked good during this years summer league. Then off of the bench I see most of the minutes going to McBuckets, Gibson, Hinrich and Dunleavy. Mirotic will play sparingly unless he wows the coaching staff during camp and in the preseason. What does everyone else think of my starting 5 and who do you think will start?

I like how you call Butler a 3, I think that is where he belongs, I just dont think they are deep enough at the two to not start Butler at the SG spot.. Snell will get starter minutes due to injury only Butler will get to start at the 2 since Dunleavy and McBucketts can really only play the three. They will end up chasing 2's on defense against Carmello, Lebron and those types of 3's and thats not gonna be pretty either. I was expecting Dunleavy to be gone though and just move Butler to the 2 when McBucketts goes in the game as a 3. but McBucketts is gonna have to prove he can defend to get any minutes from Thibbs. For now it needs to be Dunleavy playing those 15-18 minutes they planned to use him for a night and move McDermott into that role next season.

Its different if the love trade happens with cleveland and somehow the bulls can get Martin if they get split up, then we got a starting 2 that allows Jimmy Buckets to play the 3. Eventually I hope McDermott performs good enough to earn the starting 3.

I know you all think thibs hates rookies, but McD is special. Thibs looks at him like a scorer that can take some defensive focus off of Rose. Rose needs that most of the time he's on the floor starting right now. MDJ can shoot, but he's not as difficult to defend as McD. Snell will make strides this year, but he's not ready to start quite yet. McDs defense won't be as bad as people think. He knows where to be and isn't as slow as people on here make him out to be. There's a reason the bulls traded up for McDermott.

There are a few reasons they traded up for McDermott.

1. Pax has been stalking him since he entered college.
2. They wanted one first round rookie contract on the books not 2 so there was room for Melo.

We will see what Thibbs does. We still can feel there is some trouble between the front office and thibbs and playing Paxsons boy might be too much for thibbs to accept, so when he starts mcdermott, it will be because he earned it.

If Thibbs wants to protect him, he will use him when the opponents backups are in and build his confidence. Thibbs is the guy that has said he played Snell too much last year. That ends up having Dunleavy start at the 3 for now so I am still hoping they can move him.

I think you are very wrong with your reasons. Pax may have been interested in him, but thibs has been IN LOVE with McD since last years team USA practices of which he is the assistant coach. People have been questioning whether McD can get his shot off on NBA length and athleticism, but thibs has seen him do it first hand. Every GM and hoc that has seen McD in those practices say the same thing.

There is no question it was a win with mcdermott, just saying the bulls were gonna move one of those picks somehow. All the hype with that charolette pick ended up being something they ended up getting rid of.

Rose looks like the best player on Team USA right now after 2 days. Great news for Rose and the Bulls.

I doubt they would've moved one of those picks if it didn't bring in a quality addition to this team. I bet they dangled it to other teams for trades for love and Melo, but came to no avail. Trading up for McDermott was a great move, but you seem to want to undermine it because you think the bulls didn't want to give out two guaranteed contracts to unproven rookies. I don't think that's the case, and if it was, they did a great job of maximizing value. It still stands that Thibs loves McDermott from his experience with team USA and I'll bet Thibs had a huge say in trading up.

We gotta agree to disagree on this one. If you are gonna read everything people write thinking we are undermining a move, its gonna waste alot of our time. Miami picked the point guard LeBron wanted in a last ditch attempt to keep him there. I highly doubt Thibbs has much say in who Garpax went out to get. It just worked out that they all wanted the same guy. They make it clear they build the team and Thibbs coaches it.

I am not the only one that thought the bulls didnt want to have two guaranteed rookie deals. All the "experts" were saying the bulls had to move one of the first rounders during draft time.

Got a link for that? I don't think I've read that from any experts.

Where do you find links for old draft day news? Dont deal with twits from twitter to do some kind of search. Maybe you can find the draft replay somewhere on NBA TV, those 4 guys sitting at the table were all talking about the bulls Needing to move one of the picks.

I think if it were true, someone would have written about it by now. I'm just confused because I have read nothing about what you said.

Yes Bulls couldn't take on 2 rookie deals. Im happy with the Deal because we got a player that will be a nice Role player for us and will help us with our weakness.

So far its been Butler and Dunleavy. Snell has looked like a deer in the headlights. Was expecting alot more from him. Butler absolutely dominated a fourth quarter and looks like he deserves to be that 2 since its really just Hinrich behind him. McDermott started after Dunleavy was kneed in the stomach, but nobody gave LeBron much to think about last night like Butler would. D can play Irving, leaves Dunleavy and McDermott to chase Waiters around.

Cleveland looked like they were playing in an all star game, kinda think thats gonna change. I dont think Thibbs has showed any problem with subbing Gibson and Mirotic for Noah and Gasol, I hope we see a little better rotation in st louis, feel we need to let gibson play with gasol and noah with mirotic a little more. dunleavy and mcdermott are pretty much even.

JFB should be the two. With Rose back he becomes a match up nightmare(especially on d) since he won't be required to shoot as many jumpers as last year. It allows for more size in the game anyways since he's guarding whoever is the better player of the 2/3 regardless.

Too quick for many SF and too big to shoot over for many SGs.

Snell sucks. McBuckets will gain lots of PT before long.

Yeah, we are not worried about who butler is guarding, its leaving Dunleavy or McDermott chasing the 2's thru screens and giving them open shots.

Snell will definitely get the D matchups, McDermott the offensive matchups. McDermott needs to show he is willing to work on D, which usually tires the legs and leaves jumpers short when the legs go out. I think it comes down to using your strengths and learning how to not take a step back on offense when you take that leap forward that is required to get playing time from thibbs.

I think McDermott can do that, I think the biggest plus is that he stayed 4 years in college and is not a freshman to the draft rookie that is gonna take three years to adjust.

I think McDermott gets that white boy image. He isn't a bad defender. Im not saying he is great but he is much more then a 3pt specialist. He can rebound, block some shots and drive to the basket. He gets to the line. This isn't Korver.

Also with McDermott. What every deficiencies he does have on D, they are not from lack of effort. He definitely isn't someone who is just focused on padding his offensive stats. He may not be great on D ever, but he will at least give effort...unlike many, many guys.
