Bruins come in with 81 points in 60 games, 1.35/game. They are in 1st place in their division, 2nd in the conference with a +51 goal differential.
Panthers have only 53 points in 61 games, which puts them 15th in the conference. Their differential is -46. We should be able to beat them without any fights.
Those who think the NHL would lose ticket sales if there were fewer on-ice fights should ask themselves why the NBA gets by with so few brawls. There may be no boarding in basketball but in that game if you're in the paint contesting rebounds you're a lot very likely to catch an elbow in your unhelmeted head. And if you go to the floor after loose balls you can get kicked in the head or the unpadded neck. It's not a sport for wimps!
If the NHL became less permissive of fights it could lose some ticket sales to WWE fans but in the longer term would gain fans among those who would rather watch genuine athletic competition. That would be a worthwhile trade-off.
