Hell of a job by Hamels last night. That new slider of his is quite the weapon.

Still don't want to pick up his $20M club option for next year though. :)

While I agree with you on Beltra I can think of at least 2 teams that could take a flyer on him: Boston and Atlanta. And some team in need of a catcher like Minnesota could look at Chirinos as the fill-in they need to finish the season after losing their starting catcher for the rest of the season
I read where some pundit the other day mentioned Chirinos as a possible trade target.

If I am another team needing a 3B and I see Beltre has an OPS 50 points higher than Donaldson with a significantly lower salary I would trade for Beltre over Donaldson. Now, maybe part of that changes by late July.

One way of looking at it. The other is, Donaldson is MUCH more likely to finish the season upright. Beltre is an injury in waiting. I just can't see the upside of the risk/reward for the other team. Hope I'm wrong, and AB brings us a good prospect and he gets a ring in the process.

Even Beltre said himself he is open to some DH work. The plus is his clutch bat but the minus is as Don stated is the glut of a market at 3B with a team like Toronto hot to move Donaldson with talent ready to be promoted. Moustskis is out there too.

I am not so optimistic on this one but maybe I will be wrong

That is something to keep in mind. Donaldson did only play in 19 more games than Adrian last year and so far this year he has only played in one more than Adrian. Had the Rangers kept him on the DL a few days longer the first time Adrian might have played more than Donaldson this season.

Then there is the possibility that the team that would want to trade for a 3B also has other needs and they can't afford to acquire those other needs and pay Donaldson. The difference in the salary might make an owner sign off on a Beltre deal and another deal before signing off on Donaldson and not anyone else.

It is impossible to know just how much another GM values each 3B, but I don't think it is as cut and dried as Norm says it is. There are a lot of factors to consider.

Nothing like 'assuming' what someone else said, which was then quoted - perhaps semi-accurately - then draw a conclusion.

And no shit. A lot of 'factors' to be considered. Geez....slow down Bennie.

That's a mere number for the sake of a mere number IMO. Donaldson has been much healthier, and he's 7/8 years younger. I don't think it's at all fair to compare played X vs he played X in this particular situation.

Now, you're turn to overtalk the situation. ha

Not a rip roaring stat so far. I think Profar had a better shot at the dribbler past Fister. 9 HRS so far for Yanks this series

Profar has been fair-at-best at SS......Maybe he's a 2nd/3rd baseman now, period.

I think the point is that the fact that Donaldson has been just as likely to miss a game the last 2 years and anything else going forward is just projection

Didn't really see the strike zone this ump have Fister in the first, but he's giving Sabathia a couple inches to either side so far
