This is the problem.

When you take on the head coach position of major (or even a minor) college football program, you are holding the reins of what is probably the single biggest public outreach program of the university. That reality makes the job bigger than simply coaching football.

If you only want to be responsible for coaching football, don't ever become a head coach.
