In other words... stop taking a role and get a new defensive coordinator.

Maybe I mean like I said before I believe Kelly would fire his ass immediately... probably just scared Kelly himself will get fired from Notre Dame also.

Kelly did get his start coaching on the defensive side before working on his basketball on grass offense. He was a LB at Assumption and I think his first job was as a position coach there.

That said I think the offense isn't on life support. The defense is and it's not performing. Between Denbrock and Sanford, I don't think Kelly needs to oversee the offense.

I don't see anything happening before the end of the year. At that point we can see who is available without risking legal problems.

I don't know, but it's always a possibility. Usually it happens when we recruit someone to play in a 3-4 and opposing coaches convince the recruit that we are looking for someone who runs a 4-3. They scare them into thinking they will get stuck in a defense that they don't want to play.

I looked at cfbstats.com. No surprise, but out of 128 teams, our defense is ranked somewhere in the 90's in just about every category.

After 3 games we are 102nd in total defense. One spot behind Vanderbilt. Luckily we've only played one team that was ranked when we played them.

Those defensive stats are inflated since we played Nevada. I imagine they would be ranked in the 100's for every category if they played a Power 5 time. I do know one thing without looking at the stats.........I can tell you we are dead last in sacks. SMH

Yes it was when it was 4th and 1 at the 4-5 yard line. I was getting so pissed at that drive. I was like how the hell are we letting this team do this. After that drive and let down by Nevada, Nevada never gained confidence again.

Sounds like a variation on an old McKay line. We couldn't get pressure on the QB, but we made up for it by not tackling either.
