Yeah it's really unbelievable, hopefully he is just saying this to try and keep a shred of confidence the kids on defense have, but is telling Van Gorder get your $hit together or you're done.

Yeah... the things Kelly will do to backup people instead of facing reality...

Just think guys if we had a different Defensive Coordinator we would be 3-0 right now

There needs to be an uprising. A defense that relies on pressure and can't get a sack. Unbelievable. Michigan State is able to pressure Kizer with rushing only 3 people.

Defensive line has no idea how to how to stop being blocked, linebackers and secondary don't know how to tackle. Defensive backs don't know how to cover. Vangorder probably spends all practice showing them where to line-up and doesn't teach basic football fundamentals.

They keep saying that VanGorder's defense is so complicated it takes a few years to learn it. We only have these guys for 4 years max. Are they saying we will never be in a situation where most of these guys understand the defense. Let's simplify it. We have given up 96 points and almost 1,400 yards in three games. I think changes are necessary.

The irony is it seems awfully easy for OC's to figure it out and game plan against it.

I only hope they do what they did last year and let Bob Elliot research how to defend the triple option and teach it to Van Gorder.

i think he's like white sox management. no matter how bad a decision they make, they will refuse to acknowledge it by making a timely change. they just cannot admit they made a bad decision.

He's (Brian Kelly) is most likely afraid to get fired from Notre Dame if he fires someone.

The funny thing is, if Swarbrick had to step in and over-ride Kelly in making the call to terminate an assistant, that would be even greater grounds to fire Kelly, since he is unwilling or unable to make the tough call. The AD shouldn't have to do the job of the head coach.
