to be fair to Kitna, he would go through extended streaks of productivity. When I broke it down, his slumps usually correlated with an injury he had previously gotten and decided he was going to play through it.
I'm not saying he was great, but he's probably better as a QB coach than what we had.
I really liked Jon Kitna as a player. UDFA who lasted more than a decade in the league despite limited physical abilities. A fighter. I know wearing his religious beliefs on his sleeve rubbed some folks the wrong way, but oh well.
No idea whether he’d make a good coach or not. His only experience was at the high school level. I’m sure Hobs will have folks convinced he’s the next QB whisperer.
I would be perfectly okay with Kitna. He was a good God fearing guy, that was smart, a great film guy and a heck of a clipboard holder for Palmer. I think he has learned a hell of a lot in this league, and Dalton is veteran enough he doesn't need a QB coach that is going to have to teach him the game, only study for the next opponent.
Of all the guys on this staff, Kitna would be the least of my concerns as long as he stayed the QB coach. I would be okay with this move.
