Bowls and Massey Composite....

I was looking at the final Massey Composite rankings and wondered what it "thinks" of this years Bowl games. My thinking is that if a team ends up in the FINAL rankings higher (smaller rank #) than its opponent then it SHOULD have won the Bowl game (neutral site). Looking at the 39 Bowl games, 34 of the winners did indeed end up higher in the Final Composite Rankings. The five teams that "under performed" (i.e., lost when they ended up higher ranked), are Toledo (#43 lost to #55 Appalachian St), SMU (#66 lost to #77 La Tech), Michigan (#26 lost to #30 So Carolina), Memphis (#24 lost to #27 Iowa State), and Ark St (#86 lost to #88 MTSU).

I think I might have to look at more bowl seasons!
