Dryden was awful and Tretiak was great and the Canadians as a team were horribly out of shape.

/It also helped that Bobby Clarke broke Kharmalov's ankle with a wicked two-hander in game 6.
Later on I years Clarke is quoted as saying "Probably wasn't the right thing to do but it sure felt good>" (or something along those lines)

Too many to pick one. The Bruins have played in so many great playoff series' that it is difficult to remember those that involved teams not from Boston even I usually watch as much playoff hockey as I can find on TV.

Obviously the 70 & 72 cup runs by the B's are special to me because those were my formative years as a hockey fan and Bobby Orr was truly something special to watch. Those Bruins teams were freakin stacked.

The Canada/USSR series in 72 was epic for sure. Boston/Montreal or Boston/Philly in the 70's and 80's never failed to thrill. Boston taking out Montreal in 7, wiping out the hated flyers in 4 and then winning back to back 7 games series to win the cup in 11' all the while Tim Thomas was standing on his freaking head playing goaler as well as anyone ever had.

The high flying, all offense, no defense era of the late 70's to 1990 or thereabouts was pretty fun to watch as well.

Non-Homer series 1987 isles/Caps Patrick Division semi-final. Isles down 3-1 in the series. Isles win the next 3. Pat Lafontaine GWG goal in 4 OT game 7, "Easter Epic.

At least it was the only time we've ever had a 3-1 series lead and then lost the series.

Oh wait... nevermind.

The homer in me says last year's conference final with Pittsburgh. We were just 1 goal away from the Cup final.

Non homer would say the 2001 Cup final; Was good to see Bourque finally get a Cup.

It has to be the 2008 WHL western conference finals for me between the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans. I know it's not the pros, but I have never seen a playoff series at any level where two teams were so evenly matched.

Gm1: Chiefs 1, Americans 0 2OT
Gm2: Americans 1, Chiefs 0 2OT
Gm3: Chiefs 2, Americans 0
Gm4: Americans 3, Chiefs 2 OT
Gm5: Chiefs 4, Americans 3 2OT
Gm6: Americans 2, Chiefs 1 OT
Gm7: Chiefs 4, Americans 1 (game was 1-1 after 2 periods)

The series duration in total was 494:20. Of that time 471:48 was spent tied or with either team having a one goal lead. Tri-City never led by 2 at any point in the series, and Spokane led by 2 for a duration of 21:57 and held a 3 goal lead for 35 seconds after getting an empty netter at the end of game 7. Spokane ended up winning the Memorial Cup that year and I have no doubt that if Tri-City had managed to win game 7, they would have as well.

It might be the one that was Habs vs Bruins and in game 4 Kovalev got slashed and stopped skating and the Bruins won in over time to go up 3 games to 1. Then Kovalev was awesome for the next few games and the Habs won three straight to beat the overrated Bruins and got Thornton run out of town.
