You can say whichever one you want, of course. But what I'm really looking for is a diamond in the rough. Doesn't have to be one that is completely unknown, but at least not the super-well known movies...what is a "sleeper" of a good animated movie?

It really depends on your definition of well known. Are you familiar with Miyazaki? If not, I'd start there. As mentioned Your Name (Kimi No Na Was) was good. Mind Game is a trip, Paprika as well. Perfect Blue is a good one. There's lots of good animation out there. What kind of movie are you looking for?

Not really any specific kind that I'm looking for, just anything with good animation and a good story.

Any of the Studio Ghibli films immediately come to mind. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are incredible.

Isn't Lion King the only one to win Best Picture? Or something like that. A lot ofvthe Pixar ones are really good, i love The Incredibles, but my all time favorite is Lady and the Tramp. My kids watched Ponyo probably 70,000,000 times (I'm rounding obviously, but probably rounded down not up)

I love The Lion King too, but come on, it's Hamlet with cartoon cats and 2 great songs.

You don't to be the GOAT by copying Shakespeare

Fantasia, Akira, Spirited Away are the three I usually see on top animated movie lists. Princess Mononoke is pretty epic and probably belongs up there.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust
and Batman Mask of the Phantasm are really good but maybe not on the same level. Howl's Moving Castle is really, really similar to Spirited Away. Redline is pretty crazy. Beauty and the Beast is probably the best modern Disney movie. The Iron Giant flies under the radar but its solid. I have fun with The Simpsons Movie a bit more than the Futurama movies even if I really like Futurama episodes. If you're in it for the long haul then those are definitely where I'd start with animated TV shows but Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood are the best 'anime' series' I've seen and the Batman Animated Series is my favorite cartoon not made by Matt Groening.

Pixar is a different animal altogether, imo, and for me its about a six way tie for best Pixar movie. If I had to pick one I'd pick Wall-E

Not really a movie, but Golden Boy (anime). 6 episodes that kind of act like a movie (since the final brings it all together). I could plug that bitch in any time.... in fact...... *runs off*

One of the few if only anime shows I'll watch with the English dub. That speaks volumes to me lol.
