Game Thread: Bengals vs Chiefs pre-season game 2

Pre game notes:

Hopkins starting at RG again. Hard to believe that he's not going to be the starter going into the season. He's earned that spot.

Dennard and WJIII starting again at CB. Good to see them getting reps in against other teams starters. Need to find out what they can do against that competition.

No Ross, Core, Bernard, Kirkpatrick, Iloka or Uzomah.


Also would like see Billings get some more reps, and would like to see Willis also get in some good reps against starters over MJ at end.

Early trap runs having Ced pull look good. He moves well, and made nice blocks on both runs.

Hill still struggles to get moving behind the line. Too hesitant, and misses holes that open up that may not be the primary running slot.

Andre Smith forgot he was on FG team....forces a time out.

He's another guy that would not surprise me if he's cut. Clearly if he's working mostly at back-up tackle, they feel good about Hopkins and the depth at guard. Someone who is cut has to be out there soon and has to be better, right?

Then, he whiffs on a wide open sack opportunity.

Second week in a row that the starting defense (mainly front 7) have looked....not very good.

More missed tackles. A lot of first guy hitting, but not wrapping up.

Hopkins beaten badly on a blitz, but Dalton did a poor job of trying to rid of the ball.

Back to back plays were Hopkins just didn't do a good job. This time on a screen where his guy slows up Mixon.

Highlighted by one of the safeties launching himself like a rocket into Nick Vigil.

This team cannot, does not, will not, wrap and tackle.

Probably out for the season. That elbow looked dislocated AF. Not quite like Eifert, but it wasn't pretty.

The starting defense does not look good in any way, shape, or form.

They don't tackle. The DL is getting manhandled at the point of attack. QB's have all day to throw. Doesn't matter how good you cover, you can't cover for 4-5-6 seconds.

Jeremy Hill doing a nice job of turning nothing into a 1st down on 2nd and short. OL pulled, but was beat at the point.

And then hesitates badly on a the next run, and turned a 5-6 yard gain into a 1 yard gain. Had a huge hole.

The guy looks really, really solid.
