The AFC is easy and the Patriots get to play the Super Bowl well rested after the NFC beats eachother up for 5 months.
This sounds dangerously to making excuses before the game has even begun. Silly really, just silly.....

We weren't talking about the game, we were talking about how fucking weak the AFC is. 2017 AFC is one of the worst conferences of all time. Just terrible football most of the year. But you already have defense mechanisms for all that making you incredibly biased.

Ooooohhh……ok.

:L

Well, then the NFC team will be well-honed and steamroll any weak AFC team. Right?

Lol, never realized how brutal real football is? Must be from watching the AFC all year.

I think you overstate this - all time? Hardly ... Pats, Steelers and Jags would stand up well to the best that the NFC has to offer. The Pats went 3-1 vs the best division in football (NFCS) .

Does the bottom half the the AFC suck? Yes... and an unusually down year for the normally potent AFCW exacerbates it. But the conference still has plenty of firepower in play.

The lopsidedness has bothered me all year. When the Chiefs stopped playing in October that clinched it.

Back in the 80's the AFC fielded some real dogshit... I believe the NFC reeled off some 13 straight superbowls, including some of the worst beatdowns ever in that game. Today's AFC pales in comparison.

Clearly there is more depth in the NFC right now. And of the remaining 8 teams, the Titans and Jags are probably well below all 4 remaining NFC teams.

However... The two best teams remaining may very well be AFC teams. We shall see in 3 1/2 weeks.

2004 NFC was pretty bad. There was a big gap between the AFC and NFC that year and the AFC dominated the NFC in the regular season. 5 teams from the AFC went 4-0, another 5 went 3-1, and only 3 AFC teams had a negative point differential against the NFC.

2017 NFC dominated obviously, but hardly this century.

The last 16 years, the NFC won head to head 4 times.

I am not sure I agree. The Vikings played in a wussy azz conference this year with out Rodgers leading the pack and none of the other teams were all that daunting. They will lose this week to the Saints. Atlanta was a shell of itself from last year. And Philly well I was not sold but hats off the a great year.

This obviously isn't updated for the rest of the season FYI.The NFC ended with a 41-23 record against the AFC, which is a .641 winning percentage.

This also has an inaccuracy. The NFC went 34-30 in 2013. The rest is correct though.

You're right. It's a November article from CBSsports. I was just pointing out that the NFC has hardly dominated the AFC over the past 2 decades.

NFC has turned the tide in head-to-head matchups with AFC in 2017
They haven't, but 5 of the last 7 years they have won the head to head in the regular season. Funny thing, before 2011, the NFC didn't have a winning record against the AFC since 1995. 3 seasons in there they did split it evenly.

This year would come in as the 5th most dominant season for one conference over another.

1. 1979 AFC: 36-16 (.692)
2. 2004 AFC: 44-20 (.688)
3. 1970 NFC: 27-12-1 (.688)
4. 1977 AFC: 19-9 (.679)
5. 2017 NFC: 41-23 (.641)

The team coming out of the "better conference" is 25-14 in Super Bowls since the merger with 8 seasons where the teams split the regular season. In the top 10 most "dominant" years, the winning conference is only 6-4 though. Not including this year obviously since we don't know.
