Matt Nagy - C - Bears
Bears hired ex-Chiefs OC Matt Nagy as head coach.

The Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports GM Ryan Pace interviewed Nagy on Sunday and has decided he is the guy to replace John Fox, who was fired after the season. The Chiefs' offense took off after Nagy was given play-calling duties late in the season, and the coach was reportedly high on Mitchell Trubisky heading into last year's draft, a fact which certainly played a role in this hiring. The future of Bears DC Vic Fangio, who interviewed for the lead job, remains up in the air, but Chicago hiring an offensive mind at head coach could allow them to keep the talented defensive coordinator.:suds:

This is a good hire to the Bears if he isn't afraid to call some of the more creative plays KC has. Trubisky is a better athlete and arm talent than Smith so there should be some interesting things they can do with him.

Now acquire a boat load of WRs and the team will be set.

Hopefully he continues his trend of forgetting he has a game changing talent at RB in critical games.

Well he did learn from Andy Reid so I'd say chances are high.

A couple of WR's and a one O lineman away on the Offensive side of things. Perhaps doable in the off season. Love the hire. Looking forward to the next few years.

Smart hire. Nagy did good things in KC and turned a pretty poor KC offense before he arrived into something pretty damn good. Alex Smith also easily played the best football of his career under Nagy so no surprise that he should be able to get good things out of Tribusky who has the physical tools. What Tribusky needs is coaching and experience, so in theory he should do well under Nagy.

A grade.

Doesn't make me happy to see the pick up. If the Bears turn into a good team it's just more competition for Seattle.

Nagy is the perfect fit for Trubs. If Fangio stays and we keep drafting well, the Bears will be out of hibernation soon. And Nagy did not call the offense for KC in their loss. He was hired a week ago before the game.

If Seattle continues on the route they are currently on, their competition will be the Browns.

This offseason is humongous for the bears. If Meredith can come back strong, We draft a guy, and get a good vet on the cheap, I think this team can look dangerous on both sides of the ball. I’d love another stud or two on the OLine, but Trubisky needs some receivers that can get open. I’m very excited for this coming year. The North is going to be strong. The NFC might be the deepest it has ever been next year. SF and chi could both be very good teams. Hell, SF could challenge for the best team in the league. JG is for real and SF could get him on the cheap for a top end QB for the next several years.

That would be a perfect hire for them, and it would make me really nervous about a 49ers' SB run in the next couple of years. Vic gets the most out of a D, and the Pack have an offense who can keep the D off the field.

This is the first time in most Bears fans lives that they have had the following 3 things all at the same time:
1. A young, competent GM who appears to actually have the sole personnel power.
2. A young, offensive minded head coach
3. A potential franchise QB.

I believe this has the potential to be very good for the Bears.

Fangio most likely will sign with another team.
