The longtime practice of college football coaches concealing injuries is BS. College injuries should be transparent just like NFL injuries.

The NFL requires an injury report two days prior to games.... I believe college football should do the same.

Because they are completely different sports. Fact of the matter is, if the NCAA makes it a requirement I don’t see the legal grounds for suing. Just like there aren’t law suits about medical releases in any major sport in the world.

They know they would get their ass kicked over this.
There isn't a HIPAA exception, just because they play college football.

No
Not sure how they get away with it, but probably hasn't been challenged yet.
Players at the college level will never agree to this because it hurts their chances to go to the next level, whereas NFL players are already there and is of little concern to them.

I would say probation on first offense and then an escalating scale of loss of scholarships for each following offense.

Some folks on this thread are overreacting about the HIPAA thing. As has already been stated by others in this thread, most, if not all other sports report injuries, including many other college sports.

If the new rules are enacted, I would imagine as part of accepting a sports scholarship, a student athlete would be required to sign a HIPAA disclosure waiver (waiver for disclosure of new injury info only....NOT waiving the other HIPAA privacy protections such as address, phone number, social security number, payment details, previous illnesses/conditions, etc.)

Again....I imagine the new rules would be for new injury info only, nothing disclosed from previous health issues such as a player having an STD in the past, previous surgeries/procedures, etc. The rule would never pass if it included disclosure of anything other than new/current injuries.

Also.....I'm sure many of us recall the occasional stories that crop-up each season about a college player retiring from the sport due to a serious health condition which was discovered, such as heart issues, etc. Sometimes the condition is revealed, sometimes it is simply reported as 'undisclosed illness forcing retirement'.
