Washington is going to play Auburn this upcoming season (In atlanta I believe). Ask him how many times Florida has traveled past their time zone for an OCC game in the past 30 years . Here's a hint (you only need one hand and not all your fingers).

To be fair, most all of USC's bowl wins they could have walked to.

Let me see if I got this correct. You mention playing 9 conference games and he brings up how the SEC does overall vs OOC and P5 OOC, bowl games and other nonsense. Makes perfect sense, maybe, to a UF homer and team SEC nutswinger?

What do you mean...Time Zone?

Hell, since they joined the SEC in 1933 (84 years ago) they've only left the state 33 times
to play an OOC game.

When they played Michigan this year, it was the first time in 26 years they had left the state
for a OOC game.

Only 14 times, since 1933, have they ever played an OOC game vs a team with a winning
record and they are 2-12 in those games. (No fuckin' wonder they won't travel.)

But to answer your original question. Since they joined the SEC in 1933, they've only
left their time zone...15 times.

Time Frame?
Sorry, I'm fighting a sinus infection and don't seem to be improving. Anyway, it was in part 1. The time frame is 1998-2017 (20 years).

You have brought this up before. Same answer. That's because we live on the East coast where there are plenty of QUALITY opponents within 500 miles of each Major College. How many OOC P5 teams are there within 750 miles of LA? The answer is zero. There are no OOC P5 teams in the Pacific Time zone. The nearest one it Texas Tech at ~1000 miles away.

Sinus infections suck. Hope you kick it.

And if it’s not too much trouble, could you repost the OP but in alphabetical order and for the years 1956 - 1987? Minus the leap years tho. Those don’t count.

But, you don't travel to the one's on the East Coast either...not with any...aaahhhh...regularity?

btw...Only 21 times in the last 84 years have you ever left the state to face a P5 team.

You've only left the state to play 21 different teams.

You know the one you've played the most? RICE!
You've played them 5 times out-of-state. You guys are 1-3-1 vs Rice. I always knew
if you played them long enough you could beat them.

Same answer. Our players have never left the south in over 30 years if it wasn't a bowl game. Parole violation and such. They aren't allowed more than a couple hundred miles from campus.

I hate fla as much or more than anyone, but the one thing that keeps coming to mind in these arguments about Fla traveling, is WHAT KEEPS YOUR TEAM FROM DOING THE SAME DAMN THING???

Not going to play in other conference teams house? When USC went to Auburn or Ohio State and they did the return trip the next season that is great for college football. Is Florida at home vrs Charleston Southern appealing to you?

No, but it doesn't answer the question either.

Looking at more than travel dollars?

There are plenty of high D1 schools with teams in shorter driving distance that choose to travel. It's a selling point to many kids that you will play in some of the most historic venues in the sport. It's for travel for their fans for the same reason. It adds to SoS cred to travel somewhere and play a tougher team. And as Jim said doing a home and home with other distant brands also brings those big names to your house and gives the fans something different.

In short, just because there are teams that are too big of pussies to travel doesn't mean everyone else should copy them. Other conferences could go back to 8 games like the SEC as well, but fundamentally don't agree with it so why would they do it just because there is a conference doing it already?

Honestly that's kind of a baffling question really. I never think of copying behavior I find bad simply because someone else is getting away with it.

The usual diatribe against the SEC is that they play only 8 conference games combined with weak OOC schedules which leads to inflated W/L records and more Bowl teams. As in...

Yes, and your "mid/lower tier teams" only have to win three conference games to reach a bowl. My assertion is that it is easier for your "mid/lower tier teams" to win three conference games than it is for "mid/lower tier teams" SEC teams to win two!! Evidence???

IF the SEC IS getting preferential treatment then surely it should be reflected in the W/L records. IF the SEC has teams playing in Bowl games they “don’t deserve” that should lead to a LOWER W/L record. Let’s see.

As for "feasting" on lower quality opponents...
Bowl Games vs G5 opponents
1) PAC 31 VS G5 (24.0% of the PAC Bowls are against G5 teams!!!!)
2) ACC 27 VS G5 (16.8% of the ACC Bowls are against G5 teams)
3) B12 16 VS G5 (10.8% of the B12 Bowls are against G5 teams)
4) SEC 15 VS G5 (8.33% of the SEC Bowls are against G5 teams)
5) B1G 9 VS G5 (5.88% of the B1G Bowls are against G5 teams)

The PAC with their "We play more P5 teams and tougher OOC" schedule gets to play MORE G5 teams in Bowls than any other P5 conference! The SEC with their "inflated" W/L records has to play MORE P5 teams!!!

so at current the pac has 1 bowl with a G5 opponent the Vegas with the the MWC champ.
1 out of 7 is not 24%
