More expansion news

Another new look for Bronco Stadium as it turns 42 | KTVB.COM Boise

Thursday, March 29, 2012.

As Bronco football season ticket renewals hit mailboxes the next few days, Boise State lays out some concrete numbers for the next tweak to Bronco Stadium. For the first time, there will be permanent seating in the north and south end zones, with construction beginning in earnest on the Monday following next month’s Blue & Orange Game. The new end zone configurations will bring the seating capacity in the north end zone to 3,750 and the south end zone to 4,900, bringing the total capacity of the stadium to 37,000. The best thing about the south side is the top of the stands will now connect to the bottom of the upper deck of the main stadium, allowing for access from regular stadium entrances.

The fans in the end zones have become part of blue turf lore, even before the turf was blue. The north end zone bleachers were first installed in 1979, with the south bleachers added in 1988. Then they were removed at the end of each season. The south end zone stands were expanded in 2009. Now all will be permanent, covering the track forever on both ends. It’ll all be ready to go when Boise State hosts Miami (Ohio) in the home opener on September 15. Construction will also begin on the new Bronco Football Complex on the grass field near the river, with that structure scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2013.

And no to the boo birds expansion doesn't stop at 37k, there will be more to come.
