This is not going to happen.

Hansen is a UofA conspiracist. He's come up with all kinds of nutty theories over the years.

The biggest reason this isn't going to happen is because of basketball. AZ essentially owns recruiting west of the Rockies. Part of that is because the kids get to come home on road trips and their family and friends get to watch them. That isn't available if we move to the B12. We lose out on all of California, and the Seattle bases.

Furthermore, in the Pac (and although we do travel a bit up to NorCal and the NW), we have ASU (100 miles) and the SoCal schools (380 miles) that are all close. Plus the conference tourney is right in Vegas and AZ fans dominate attendance.

Our closest B12 trip would be to Lubbock (700 miles), and we'd have to travel all the way to you guys in Morgantown (which is 2000 miles).

Finally, we are getting some money from the P12 network. It may not be a lot, but it will increase, and the B12 is going to go through the same growing pains whenever you get your own network.

If we weren't a basketball school, then I could entertain it, and maybe ASU would be a better bet. But AZ is not going to give up what we have in basketball because we can't recruit football players in Cali. Our basketball program pulls in way more money than football.

I think for a basketball school, we also have a pretty decent football program. If we can continue to have some good showings in the Pac, and be ranked nationally in every third year or so, that's probably good enough for us (especially looking at schools like UCONN, Duke, Syracuse, Kentucky, Kansas, etc.). Just getting a coach like RR says that we are doing pretty well where we're at. Better to try and build on what we have than to completely adjust our regional focus on playing and recruiting for all sports.

No one is leaving the security of the PAC, B11, SEC or ACC for the uncertainty of the B12, period. If the B12 expands it will be former BE teams, probably Cinci and someone else, maybe UConn or Memphis.
