Leaving Zion National Park in Utah, the choice was either Las Vegas or Arizona. I headed south on route 59 toward the Grand Canyon, North Rim. On the way, severe storms and lightning strikes to the south. Fires were burning at the South Rim side when I arrived.

Grand Canyon, North Rim.

The nearby Lodge has a decent view while relaxing

and the restaurant is good and not expensive. Went for the Beef Brisket and a Corona.

Left North Rim and headed back up to Jacob Lake to pick up route 89 south for the 150-mile drive to the South Rim. Arrived early and the sun provided great shots of the canyon. Grand Canyon Villlage with lodging, a few restaurants, and some shops is adjacent to the main paved hiking trail that runs for miles. Perfect layout for seeing the canyon and resting in the heat.
