He's not that old and still in the prime of his career? Any insider info on why he actually left?

I am not trying to sound critical because if I am in that position I would do the same thing. However here is my theory:

He has nowhere to go but down. OU is not going to win anymore NC's under this regime. They will at best be a playoff team but they have reached their ceiling. To put into running terms, he is gassed. He knows this better than anyone else and decided to take his exit and go out on top or as "on top" as he can get.

They are not getting the players they used to, the Big12 is in turmoil, and to stay any longer will only tarnish his legacy. Lets remember that prior to Lincoln Riley's arrival there were a lot of people calling for his head at OU.

He has done it all, 18 years, 1 national title, 75% wins plenty of money. 55 years old I would walk away to. Good for him go enjoy life.

Bullshit. Just pulled in his best class in probably a decade. Keep reaching.

Two thoughts:

1) Lions asked for thoughts...I gave mine. You are not required to reply

2) Try and not be a fucking homer. He is "retired" get over it fukstick

Also...an additional thought...HIS Best class means what? Other programs are pulling in better classes

Thats like me saying the dump I just took is the best dump I have taken in a decade. Only I am impressed with it.

Totally agree with ya. What has he not accomplished at OU? The world is much bigger than football. Go enjoy your future Bob. You deserve it.:thumb:

You don't need to get angry at the guy. He's just giving an opinion. Not even trying to rip the program. I am just wondering what the deal is, maybe someone you know has some insider info?

Oh I don't give a crap about him, just negged him back for starting it.

From what I've read is that this has been in the works for a while. Some thought Riley was already working on assembling a staff for Oregon, then they thought he had the Houston job, then that fell through at the last second. Don't know if that just speed up the timeline, or not. Regardless it's all speculation at this point, just what I've read in a few places.

Maybe he wanted a fresh start somewhere else. 18 years is a long time. Maybe he knows his buddy Sumlin is about to get the ax and figures he'd be a shoe-in. (No I don't really believe that just talking smack)

Was driving home from work before I heard this, and local talk radio said Strops steps down and Riley named head coach.
:wtf2:

I was hoping we traded coaches.:hope:

Imagine my disappointment.
:gaah:
