What a great first week this year. Just by beating lowly Michigan, Florida can jump right up into the top dozen...after 5 years of suck!

Alabama at #1 I guess makes sense. But with the pieces we lost on defense to the draft, I'm not sure how we can be nearly as good as we were then. This is also under the impression that our now Sophomore QB improves over his wonderful Freshman year.

It should be a great game in the MBS to start off the year against FSU.

This article was written after the 2016 top 25 was released so it is a year old. I still find it interesting.

www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ranking-the-10-biggest-preseason-ap-top-25-poll-flops-over-past-10-years/

Here is an example:
  • For nine straight years, at least three preseason AP top 10 teams finished the season with four or more losses. Or to put it another way: 36 percent of the preseason top-10 teams since 2007 ended with four to eight losses. The odds are that three of these teams will be a major disappointment in 2016: Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Stanford, Tennessee and Notre Dame. If this trend holds true, which three of the top ten this year do you think will finish the year with four or more losses?
  • Here's a friendly reminder of how last year's final AP top 10 teams were ranked in the preseason, in order: Alabama (No. 3), Clemson (No. 12), Stanford (No. 21), Ohio State (No. 1), Oklahoma (No. 19), Michigan State (No. 5), TCU (No. 2), Houston (no votes), Iowa (no votes), Ole Miss (No. 17). In other words, the media went 4-6 in correctly picking top-10 teams. Coaches would get fired with that kind of record.

Going into the season we are over ranked. I have us in the 18-22 range. Realistically we can be a top 10 and possibly a playoff team but we have done nothing on the field to earn a 12 spot, especially after losing Carl and Mont to the draft. IMHO we have the talent to replace them but I have to see it on the field first.
100% true and I understand the skepticism from the ugly loss the dirt burglers put on you guys to end the year. But no other team has done antyhing on the field to earn their spot at this point either.

I think your War Eagles year will hinge on Stidham. If the defense doesn't have to carry the team too much, your guys could give a lot of people fits. JMO.

Thanks. I also have an ulterior motive. We seem to do so much better when we are ranked lower. Historically we tank when expectations are high. I have no freakin clue why.

The dirt burglars seem to be the same. They are fantastic when expectations are low. They shit the bed when high.
