The preseason rankings will be used for post season arguments ... we beat ____ and they were ranked #__ at the time. I would like to see the AP and coaches wait a couple of weeks before voting, not that it would make a huge difference.

TCU and Northwestern should be ranked in the top 25 rather than the Vols imo. Not sure what that is with BYU in the ORV stuff...

That's exactly why end of year rankings are what matter when teams want to thump their chest about who they beat. It really doesn't matter what a team was ranked in the preseason or at the time you played them.

Ya it does. It's leverage. When one top 10 team loses a close one to another top 10 team they don't drop all that much. That's why everyone used to get pissed off at the SEC's preseason rankings. One of those teams would lose to another and they might have dropped one or two spots when teams from other conferences that lost dropped like a rock.

We started that season ranked 43rd if I remember correctly. Had there been one minute less we would have won. But on the other hand had there been one minute less, most women would not have known I was even there.
