I am not understanding this love for Texas. Am I missing something?
Four B1G teams in the top 11.On another note, hello Big Ten showing up in the Top 10. Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin.

I know they got a new coach but did nobody notice the decline in Houston's performance last year in comparison to Herman's first year? But on the other hand, he's 6-0 against ranked teams so he's definitely a good coach. Don't know if it's good enough to put a 5-7 team on the preseason top 25.
Going into the season we are over ranked. I have us in the 18-22 range. Realistically we can be a top 10 and possibly a playoff team but we have done nothing on the field to earn a 12 spot, especially after losing Carl and Mont to the draft. IMHO we have the talent to replace them but I have to see it on the field first.

But do you really put that much stock into Pre-season rankings for any sport?
Houston beat OU and Louisville ... the same Louisville team that hung 60+ on Florida St.I know they got a new coach but did nobody notice the decline in Houston's performance last year in comparison to Herman's first year? I see that #2 spot was close as hell. FSU had 1 more first place vote too.
No but I think it's different with College Football. It sets the tone for the program. It's one thing to, for example, hype up the Washington State Cougars, but once those kids and coaches wake up to see they are #24, that will hype them up even more.

The preseason rankings will be used for post season arguments ... we beat ____ and they were ranked #__ at the time. I would like to see the AP and coaches wait a couple of weeks before voting, not that it would make a huge difference.
Can't argue that. I think Texas will be happy just to go bowling this year .. or they would have until these polls put the pressure on them.Yeah I get that he's 6-0 against ranked teams. Still don't think that makes a 5-7 Longhorn team the 23rd best in the country. When Herman took over at Houston, at least Houston was already a winning program. 8-5 with a 5 win turnaround. For arguments sake, if there is a 5 win turnaround with the Longhorns, that would be a huge accomplishment, I think.
