always with 16 as the must have number. Exactly what is wrong with 12 and 14 member conferences? I suspect some league is going to overexpand and it is going to come back and bite them in the ass.

I have to agree. Look at the distances that some teams will have to travel. How about a Wednesday match of woman's volleyball between Texas and Oregon St? Not great. Does Texas want a baseball game with Boston College? These non-revenue sports will cost a fortune in travel, meal and hotel expenses.

I think a lot of non-revenue sports will suffer with the expanded travel distances, but it won't be women's sports (Title IX). Too much emphasis on football without looking at the overall sports landscape. Even basketball could suffer due the expansions...

basketball will definitely suffer in some conferences and then the regret will set in.

Don't think its that big of a deal.

Tucson and Seattle are part of the same conference city-wise right now. Long ass drive for volleyball on a Wednesday.

OSU played in Gainesville in December on a Thursday night. That's a 1000 Mile drive.
UF is coming to Columbus this year to return the game.

It's not like you will be making more than one trip a year anyway.

perhaps but IMO playing a conference team only once every 6 years is not right.

That I agree with.

But that's how it used to be.

OSU is like 43-7 vs Minnesota.

But we've had a 100 year relationship with them? how could we have played them only 50 times?!

I think you will see OOC games slowly die. Which sucks because we are just going to get Directional State University vs Big Public University every season to start.
