5× All Star,Won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves, hit 434 homers, and drove in 1289 runs.

His time in Atlanta he was no doubt a HOF player...his time after is probably what will keep him out if he doesnt make it.

His RBI total will probably keep him out.
If you considered the runs he kept opposing teams from scoring and add them to his RBI total it would get him in, but voters want offense from outfielders.
By the way, Andruw was the youngest NLer in history to hit his 300th HR. If his production hadn't inexplicably fallen off when he was 28 or so he'd be a first ballot HOF lock.

Since a defensive "Wizard" like Ozzie Smith is in the HOF, no question AJ should get in too. His amazing D was a huge contributing factor to Glavine, Maddux and Smoltz making the Hall.

Good player .... Absolutely. Hall of Famer ... No.

He was a great player, just not for long enough.
I've argued with posters who want to put great young players into The MLB or NFL HOF, it takes continued greatness into a player's 30s to become a HOFer in most cases. There are a few exceptions, usually it makes little sense when others just as worthy are left out. Why Gale Sayers but not William Andrews ? image I suppose.
For consistency's sake Andrew probably isn't getting in.

He's the best defensive outfielder ever, stats back it up.

My criteria for the HOF of any sport, is if I have to think about it, it's a no.

Jones belongs in the Hall of very good, he was probably 2 more great seasons away from the Hall, but he regressed early in age.

Andruw is a member of a club that has only 4 members.

They are.

Ken Griffey Jr
Andruw Jones
Willie Mays
Mike Schmidt

Can you guess what ultra rare feat they have in common ?

I agree, but I'd pick him to start a team with over many who are in the hall.

Seems a lot of people think Omar Vizquel is a lock for the HOF. He gets in and Andruw doesn't, I'll have an issue.

Egh.

Nobody knows that.

Defensive stats for anyone pre80's are mostly conjecture.

I won't pretend to understand the advanced defensive stats. I do trust my eyes though, and that sumbitch could cover the entire outfield by himself(pretty well had to for the couple of seasons when Chipper was in left field and Gary Sheffield was in right, still blame those couple of seasons Chipper spent in LF for those leg problems that plagued him for years afterwards. Fuck Vinny Castilla)

I'm not knocking his defense.

But if I'm electing a Braves outfielder whose career went south quick, I'm electing Dale Murphy.
