Went to Cabelas today to see what they had in stock and I was pleasantly supervised by the amount of .223/5.56 they had in stock. The shelves were basically full of it and from low to high end stuff. I got some Remington 50 round value packs for like $22 a piece. They also had a bunch of different options of the 20 round boxes for around $10-$15.

9mm/.22lr and 40S&W were basically no where to be found still. They had some +p and a very small variety of .40 in defensive loads. There was a TON of .45 though, likely because it was all $30+ a box.

Either way, I got some .223 and can finally take my rifle out for a test fire.

Around my neck of the woods we still have box limits and availability is not so great..Getting better though.

I miss the days that I could bulk buy 500 223's for like 120 bucks.

check there after the trucks arrive over night (be there when the doors open), 3 to 4 times a week, Cabelas in KCK gets .22lr, 9mm and 40S&W quite often but it usually doesn't make past noon....just FYI

Yeah, we got there a like 10 minutes after 10:00am yesterday (when it opened) and there wasn't anything. I assumed they might do something like that but it's still crazy to me that they can't keep anything in stock 8 months later. I remember last year going to Cabela's and they had this box of Seller & Bellot 9mm for like $8.99 a box in this big discount bin. I wish I had grabbed a bunch more.

But the .223 was no problem. You could grab as much of that as you wanted (at least it seemed).

It seems like the hunting rounds are the only thing actually in stock. I've seen plenty of 30-06 and 30-30.

I live on a mountain top.... with a clear view for a couple hundred yards in all direction. 30-06 will do just fine.

I ended up ordering some PMC Bronze 9mm online. 3 boxes. I forget the place I got it from, it was a smaller store online, but they offered flat shipping no matter how many boxes you got. So it was like $10 in shipping but with 3 boxes ordered it only came out to $3.33 a box. Under $20 a box for 9mm shipped, not bad. I'll have to get the receipt online for where I got it. It came pretty quickly as well, and last I checked they had some more in stock.

I'm just glad I have enough to actually go out and shoot again.

He's talking about shipping coming out to $3.33 a box. He did say under $20 per box later, so < $20 + $3.33 = Cost

Correct, "shipped" the boxes came out to a little under $20 a box.

Went to WalMart this morning to pick up some gun oil and found 3 bricks of Federal 9mm 115 gr. at $14.77 per. Went ahead and got all 3. Woot.

Paid $21.95 for a box of Remington UMC 9mm 147 gr. at a gun/pawn shop yesterday. :ohwell:

I haven't experienced an ammo shortage in 6 months. I buy .223 and 22lr weekly. I have found that some places are still price gauging though and I boycott those places.

Yeah, I've not been having that much trouble finding 9mm as of late, just don't think I've paid under $20-$25 for 50 rds. in what seems like forever and that's usually a lower end ammo. I was happy as hell to pay $14.77 for them yesterday lol.
