Won't do LFL either.

But I've been known to watch the CFL on occasion.

I always hope these new leagues don't fuck up the CFL.
C'mon, the LFL is decent football with half naked women. What's not to love?

I think they are doomed to fail.

They have a network deal so that is a good start, but I just think football is close to a saturation point for the non gambling NFL...I like some components of it, the FF part, etc.

Not really in this case. They are using more prominent people. Bill Polian is involved as well as others.

the article says they will bring in ex-NFL players into many of the executive positions. Regardless, I agree that many will watch another pro league if it is done well. Football season is the shortest of all major sports. I think that's why people are so involved in the off-season NFL stuff. They're craving football and that's all there is (other than CFL and it kind of overlaps the NFL).

Where do the players come from? Non-drafted, atheletes with football skills from other countries? This could actually be a good breeding/grooming ground for FA.

Undrafted players and p[layers who are cut. They will, in fact, be a breeding ground for future NFL players.

I think nearly all they are doing is correct:

Starting the season a week or 2 after the Superbowl. I was still craving football.

Making the fantasy part a large focus. I know many people who wanted more fantasy football after the NFL season was over.

Network TV deal.

Ex NFL players and executives being involved.

Not making it gimmicky like the XFL was.

I believe I heard on the radio they will focus on "local" talent. Local schools, etc.

That is good and in a way complements the draft. It depends on how the light shines*.

Was thinking that the players of NFL Europe could migrate and build over here what they tried over there. Better that the breeding ground is closer to home.

they have rosters set? is there fantasy for it? could we do it by hand?

I remember hearing that they would have fantasy to go along with it, but I hadn't seen much about it.

Perhaps we have some members in the teams cities who can give us some info.
