Except that Urban and Alford have a history too. Urban was at CSU with Alford. Urban (along with Kelly, endorsed Alford for the CSU head coaching gig. And Alford coached with Ed Warriner and Tim Hinton. He'll be coaching up a Heisman candidate RB. He has more avenues of advancement within the organization. I fear the worst on this one, as Alford's recruiting prowess is about as second to none. I always knew Alford would go elsewhere, he's too good, but a lateral move to OSU is bad optics.

If ND football is Indiana Jones, the Urban Meyer is Rene Belloq. Poaches recruits and coaches alike.

He is already more then just a RB coach at ND so I don't know if he can just leave. OSU would have to promote him. This is Urban 2nd try at Alford. Alford turned him down once before.

It's getting kind of old that schools keep poaching assistant coaches under Kelly namely Urban Meyer, hopefully Notre Dame will have the chance to repay him at some point.

Rene Belloq strikes again. ND should make a run at Aurty Denson. He's a Fla. Guy, has HS connections, is a RB coach at USF. Like Lyght, can sell the school and NFL.

Honestly he should have been the one guy they protected. If it meant making him the assistant head coach or something like that along with pay raise, he definitely would have been the man you would target to keep. He seemed like he had his hand in almost every big recruit.

I believe he also has an assistant head coach title as well as RB coach. Even if titular only, it's technically a promotion.
