I'm definitely not disappointed about Hosmer. Just thought a run at Logan Morrison might have been worthwhile.
We'll see what Morrison gets, but his OPS did just jump 120 points from his career average in a contract year. I was shocked the Rays didn't trade him at the deadline.

I agree, not buying on Morrison.....Came out of nowhere with that season last year, and seemed to die down after all his bitching about not being in the HR Derby

Assuming he would be a lot more expensive than Moreland, I wouldnt have touched him

Yeah - he definitely could be fools gold. If Mitch can do what he did in April/May/June of last season all year, then it will be a good signing.

And remember he broke his toe in the middle of June. He had an .877 OPS leading up to the injury and was hitting .285. From that point on, he hit .218 with a .689 OPS

Would have rather Boston get Hosmer than keep Moreland. Wonder if Boston will do anything big this off-season.

Would be another good name for the Yankees there, be much cheaper than Machado as well. Oh and Longoria got traded to the Giants today. Have always liked Longoria, best of luck to him with the Giants.

can't believe the Rays are trading him, and it's not like he's tied to an albatross contract. $16M for a 3~ WAR player is pretty fair, especially when he's a franchise icon. The return seems kinda underwhelming as well, though Sickels thinks the two pitching prospects have potential. Arroyo's lack of power and plate discipline is a bit worrying IMO.

Did Todd Frazier re-sign? They have him listed on the roster still.

No. I think those projections will include players that were on the team the previous year, but are currently free agents. If you look at the Royals ZiPS projections, Hosmer/Moustakas/Cain are included even though they're currently free agents.

Is Machado definitely a “no” with the Yankees?

I'd say highly unlikely but with Dumpster Dan and Angelos running things, your guess is as good as mine.
