Yeah - I have heard the stories about May 2009 where he was going off on the press when they asked him what his deal was.

Sox 3b situation is dismal:

Panda - fat, injured, and not good when he does play. This may be Cherington's biggest mistake and that includes getting Alan Craig and Joe Kelly for Lackey.
Brock Holt - guy's career is probably over (at least his chance of ever being an every day player). Mystery vertigo symptoms that have been going on for a few years doesn't bode well.
Deven Merrero - can't hit.

Time to say screw it and call up Devers (skipping AAA).
Bingo

They are very in on Frazier apparently, Gammons thought Fenway was perfect for him, and he has the metality to handle Boston....With the contract, I doubt the Sox would have to surrender a ton

Problem is the Sox are right under the luxury tax threshold and while I haven't done the math, I bet Frazier would put them over. He's also not, um, hitting that well.

You know who is hitting pretty well? Travis Shaw. :mad2:

Yeah I would take Frazier if it didn't take much to get him. Chicago can't ask for much as he would just be a rental. Unless Quintana is in the deal as well.

Yeah, a lotta people liked Shaw in Milwaukee, place is a launching pad

Hadnt realized that Thornburg has been an injury waiting to happen his whole career

And yes on the threshold, Gammons made mention of that, and could be the big hangup on a deal

I hate Gerritt Cole, and all the Yankee rumours

Something about that guy makes me thinks he is a fraud

Shelled by the Braves last night, that happens too often, and he would cost a ton in prospects

I think any additional payroll right now would all be over the luxury tax. If we traded for Frazier today, they would essentially have to pay about $13.5 million since they'll be taxed 50% as it would be their 3rd straight year going over. At least that's how I understand it.

And no, he's not hitting, but it would still be a big improvement over the crap they are throwing out there now. Plus a defensive improvement.

And Shaw did start hot last year and was pretty bad after the start of June. But even his poor performance for the rest of the year would be an improvement.

Red Sox win 3 in a row. Up to 3rd in the AL in runs per game. Most runs scored in May after being 13th in April (2nd and 25th in the majors in those 2 months respectively). Sam Travis with 2 hits in his MLB debut.

Orioles just cannot hit a changeup this season.

Every single team is making this free-swinging look silly with simple changeups.
They twist themselves into pretzels looking to hit 5 run homeruns versus 80 mph slow balls.

Buck better start laying some bunts or just to get better contact.
100% power stroke swings no matter what the count or game situation is unsustainable yet again.

Same thing every year with Buck. It becomes very frustrating when the HRS disappear for a few games.

Very few guys on this team unfortunately are patient at the plate. One of those guys that's actually good at it, Kim, almost belongs on a milk carton at this point since he only plays one game a week anymore.

Ugly win but I'll take it. Yanks somehow manage a win as they turned their 2 hits into 3 runs and needed a 5 out save from Betances.
